?? What is the time diff. between airbrushing and hvlp, looking into bring one into our salon. 2nd ?? what is the mess diff. between the two.Ive been told I could get away with just a shower curtain as a floor drop and a back drop with air brush but the hvlp is much more of a mess and a spray booth and recovery system is required. ? Re: difference in hvlp vs. lvlp

I put washable panels on the walls of my spray room. I also built a platformwith a small sump built in. I have a large bathroom style vent fan over the spray area with a filter attached to capture a lot of the overspray.

The way I have it set up, I don't get a lot of spray outside of the room, but everything in the room needs to be washable. I can clean the room in about 15 minutes-top to bottom. I have my bed cleaners clean the room. I just cover the platform with paper for the client to stand on between sessions. It takes about 5 minutes to prepare between sessions and about 15 minutes at the end of the day. I schedule sesions 20 minutes apart.

Re: difference in hvlp vs. lvlp

As to your other question, it took me about 45 minutes between sessions with an airbrush. I think that some people are faster than that though.

Time difference.....With HVLP your talking like right around 5 mins. to spray a client. So you can pretty much take on a new client every 20 min. or 15 min. if you want to be really busy and run things tight. Airbrush you'll be lucky to two an hour with a std. aibrush system. (Some people have switched out guns on airbrush units to help speed time up/but you are wasting alot of solution each time) Go with HVLP or you'll regret it.

Mess is less with HVLP. Because with HVLP you get less overspray. But when your spraying it appears HVLP would be more messy but it really isn't. Its true you can just use shower curtains, but think about it if you are a new client coming in. To me it looks tacky and cheap. You can build a very nice overspray booth for about $150 to $200 tops. You'll get very little overspray and it looks impressive. Private Message me if you want more info. on how to build the booth.

The difference was enough to make me switch to the hvlp! I is the better way to go my friend. Much better application, easier to do IMO, and you will be able to spray many more clients per day than with the standard airbrush application. Good luck. :)

Much Mahalo for your inputs, It's sounding that hvlp is the way to go, or perhaps haveing both on site maybe an answer as well.

so is it just as quick as the hvlp to spray or will it be longer like airbrushing?
