Wagner FineSpray HVLP Mods for Tanning?
I have a Wagner Finespray HVLP
http://www.gleempaint.com/fine-spray-hvlp-2400.html I have used it to spray AYU and React. I am using the stock gun that came with the unit. I am having trouble with either getting too little solution out or too much. Maybe it is just technique to get it right, but I am wondering if there are any other guns or modifications that will work with this unit so the spary is easier to apply. Thanks |

If you adjust the gun, it will spray fine. Practice with some colored water on some cardboard. Turn the nozzle until you get the tall, narrow spray. Set the flow on around the 4th to the 6th mark. Then practice.
It will get easier. |

Re: Wagner FineSpray HVLP Mods for Tanning?
I have one of the older units I bought a couple of years ago. I don't see any numbered marks-- mine is just a continuous adjustment with plus to minus marked. So, I can experiment with that until I understand how much material should be applied. I thought the size of the opening might be too large in the dispensing head and that might be another source of the problem, but sounds as if that is not an issue? So, must just be practice for me.

There are no numbers, just marks. I think every 5th mark is longer than the rest.
Also, when you put it together, the piece under the spray nozzle has to be put in straight. It has a bump on it that fits in a slot. Make sure it is aligned properly or you won't get an even spray pattern. |

Re: Wagner FineSpray HVLP Mods for Tanning?
I see .. there are eight marks on the solution control knob. It also has a "+" and a "-" to indicate direction. I did check to make sure the part under the spray head is aligned correctly. Looks ok. Mine looks a lot like this spray gun, only the solution control knob is plastic and not brass.
http://www.whisper-mist.com/t6000-morefeatures.htm I was trying to find an insert that would be smaller than what is in my current gun. I thought I read somewhere that the optimum size for spraying tanning solution is .7 or less. Does that make sense? |

Re: Wagner FineSpray HVLP Mods for Tanning?
The difference isn't age, it is a different model--fine coat vs. fine spray.
However, it should still work. If it is spraying evenly, you just need practice. The adjustment should allow you to adjust the spray volume until you are actually having to slow down to get coverage. Then adjust it up until you are having to speed up your movements to keep from getting too much. Obviously, somewhere in the middle is the proper volume adjustment. I never used the fine coat, but the unit I have I cut a hole in the wall and ran the hose through to get the turbine unit out of the room. It is hidden behind my stand up unit. That helps to muffle the sound. Good luck |
