Spray Techs: Do you spray Sun Burnt Clients??

Hello - Over the past month I've had a handful of clients come in to fill in tan lines - most of them have been burnt by the sun and their skin is very dry and ready to peel. Although I explain they will have a better outcome if they wait until their skin has completly shed the burnt skin, they all say "I dont care - I just want to fill in the lines". I again, explain the process and tell them the DHA adheards to the deadskin cells and will not last as long due to the peeling- I also warn them that the tan will SHED off with the dead skin making patches!
Everyone of them has come back in for a touch-up complaining they "HATE" the outcome and demad to be fixed - which is a HUGE pain in the butt bacuse its very time consuming as I find myself spraying the patchy areas and touching them up with a Q-tip and body sponge.
I am now thinking about no longer tanning clients who have visable signs of burt skin - which will eventually start to shed.
How do any of you handle this situation???

after counseling them like you did i hope you aren't touching them up for free?
some people just won't listen - if you tell them they are going to look like a leper and they still won't listen - tell them about your "touchup fee" and make some extra $ on it - some people just don't care what you say

Thank you very much for the reply! Actually - I havent been charging them because they were very upset and I've been trying to keep everyone happy. Its so much more time consuming to do a touch up too.
My salon has a very good reputation and I just didnt want anyone to badmouth our services. I am either going to have a seperate consent form for these types of tanners or 2. stop tanning these types of clients. The people who leave my salon are walking billbords - I would hate for someone shedding to say its the airbrush tan!

good idea - just keep trying to educate them - and CHARGE them for a touchup because they are going against your advice - just be upfront about it...

You should also give them a flyer advising them against spray tanning while their skin is burnt. That way, if they want it anyway it is their own fault.

I had to spend a half hour talking someone out of a spray tan on Saturday. She was burnt and wanted it. I had to explain to her that the tan would not last. I spent my gas money etc to get to her but in the long run I think she will appreciate I did not rip her off. I hope so anyway
