MagicTan problem with spray

I have had a Magic Tan in my salon for the last couple of years but just recently it doesn't seem to be spraying as good as it use to. We purge it regularly according to the manufacters instructions. We have tried a few different solutions and it didnt seem to help. We currently use Breeze solution but the color just doesn't seem to be as good as it use to be and it seems to spray a little inconsistint. If anybody has any suggestions on how to help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: MagicTan problem with spray

Well, anyway, it could be two things. When you purge the system, do you use a container of just warm water? When you purge, you need to open the metering valve all the way.
Next, if it's an older machine, there is a 12 volt solution valve to control each spray bank. This valve has a small poppit with a rubber like tip in it. Over time, the rubber tip will tend to swell thus reducing the fluid orfice size. They will need to be replaced if that's the one's you have. Call Scott at MT and see if he can help you out further.

Re: MagicTan problem with spray

It is a MT3000 and is about 2.5 years old. I have been using warm water to purge.

Sounds to me like you've tried evrything except: selling it. Good luck.

Have you checked the fluid pressure, fluid flow rate, and air pressure according
to the owner's manual? If your not getting the color, you are probably not
getting enough solution . Also, different solutions with different viscosities may require a different flow rate setting. Your owner's manual should tell you how to check and adjust the settings.

I found a valve that was bad. Everything is working great now. Thanks for the replies.

Re: MagicTan problem with spray

Hi, I know I'm probably on the wrong part of the site but I'm just signing the lease for my new Salon now (In UK) PLEASE HELP & ADVISE ME... I have sorted out my UV /HP beds & had almost definately decided on the new Mymist booth from Mystic as you just sell a canister to the client and there is no fiddling around with solution . However, I was contacted by MagicTan to tell me that they are happy to sponsor a sale of a 11 mth old bed (salon owner removing as extending nail bar) & still provide warranty, service & marketing for me and the booth is virtually half price. Now that I have started to look into the second hand market and it seems that it is saturated with salon owners trying to get rid of the booths. I am also really concerned that the machines on sale have very low usage. I really wanted to offer a UV free alternative but I am jittering that I actually won't make any money from the machine - the best scenario looking at some of the usages is that I would break even and for a new start up I am now not sure that I can afford the luxury of offering. My UV Bed Supplier told me that the Spray Tan booths were now not very popular - he would appear correct from the amount for sale. This is not specific to any paticular brand of booth but please please can anybody give me some honest advice (who actually own automated spray tan machines)
1) would you make the investment of 30,000
2) Do you make money or just break even
3) Would you consider buying a 2nd hand machine for 15000
4) My nearest competitor offers automated spray tan for 14.99 (they use a rubbish booth but I don't think clients would really understand the difference so the max I could charge is 19.99)

My husband says to leave the decision until after I open & see if anybody requests the service - but I am thinking that it should be in my initial advertising to draw clients in. What do you think?

Your opinion & comments would be greatly appreciated. I am at a crossroads & don't know which way to turn..

Your husband may be correct. There will always be good, used machines out there.
