Rep Power: 0 | Anyone know anything about Jamaica Tan? :sarcasm: Hi there! I am starting up a spray tan business. My best friend is allowing me to use one teeny tiny little corner of her massage business to set up an area. I have an opportunity to purchase a kit from Jamaica Tan that comes with a portable turbine air supply. Is this the same as HPLV? They advertise a tan in 2-3 minutes and it is not an air brush thing-y. Just wondering if anyone has heard of them?

There are diffent types of spray on tan system on the market I will give you my opinion on them. I am very familier with the HVLP and LVLP. the info on the airbrush and the booth are gather from current customers Airbrush - Pros-inexpensive, very small so it is easy to carry and store, Cons-Uses about 4 oz of solution takes quite a bit of time to do and unless you are really good at it isn't really even if you are going to go this route be sure to get some kind of "ventalation booth". Booth AKA Mystic- Pro's-Automatic no employee needed to spray the customer, Great for spraying people nude. or if you have men that want sprayed and you have young employees working for you Con's-Uses a fair amount of solution . expensive! some markets can handle the amount of customers some can't. Customer error is common. Be sure that you customers understand what to do. missed spots are common HVLP- Pro's-Uses a smaller amount of solution about 2 oz. The new technology has made them much quieter and smaller Con's- Usually more expensive that a LVLP. Long hoses- about 20 feet LVLP- Pro's- Small, quiet, only 10" hoses lower cost than a Booth or HVLP Con's-More expensive than an airbtrush. Be sure to check warrantee. Using the cheapest solution on the market could bite you in the butt. If your customers don't like the color they won't be back. In my area we don't like the color that Jamaica tan has but they are a very successful company. Different areas like different colors that is why there are so many options on the market. You just got ta love america! In my opinion I would choose the Machine that you want then call around and have everyone you can find send you samples of their solution . If they won't send you a sample you don't want to do business with them. I have pictures of a homemade "ventalation booth" that I will be happy to send anyone if they would like http://suddenlytan.com Jennifer Suddenlytan@peoplepc.com I promise to never spam or bash. I promise to give my honest opinion and if you are getting great product or price i will tell you. I promise to be of help to anyone my customer or not. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Anyone know anything about Jamaica Tan? We love Norvell. We did alot of research for our area and couldn't see paying 20k-30k for a Booth. it would take awhile to see a return. Once we decided to do the airbrushing, we looked into alot of solutions, asked alot of friends in the industry and settled on Norvell. Haven't ever even thought about changing. The reason I was sold on them was the "primer" sprayed on customers b/f the tanning solution , b/c it neutralizes the ph level and keeps customers from turning orange! My rep says it is not neccessary to "prime" every customer, but we do. Never ONE complaint of the color! it was soooo worth the investment. BUT you need to have someone you can trust in that type of setting (aka customers almost nude) to make the customer feel comfortable and so you do not set yourself up for an issue! We are a husband/wife team. wife airbrushes ladies, husband airbrushes guys. Only exception is that wife will airbrush a guy IF his wife is in the room also. We also have a rule that the customer must wear something on the bottom. no nude airbrushing. Customers are fine with that. Too many things people can try and sue ya for! Plus we want to be the upscale salon in our area with no one ever having a ? in their heads about us. Hope the info helps. From someone who uses the Norvell products DAILY and has for over 2 years faithfully! Good Luck! |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: Anyone know anything about Jamaica Tan? As per Tanning someone nude. one of the reasons I do not is because if they don't have a tan line to compare to they don't realize how dark the got. Also men who think they are going to impress your employess will be rather embarrassed. That air can be really cold : P |
