The sunless booth is for sale. It has fewer than 500 sessions on it. It looks and works like new. Don't pay a ridiculous price for a new one at the Nashville Show. Come, bring your truck and buy ours.

Re: How big is the sunless market?

Lets be very clear about one thing when talking about booths.

HOW WELL DOES THE SALON TAKE CARE OF THEIR EQUIPMENT?

This will be the X factor in how well it performs.

The Y factor will be; how well is the staff trained?

Re: How big is the sunless market?

Most sunless booths require some routine maintenance. Some maintenance is required daily or weekly. Few booths only require something done monthly. By maintenance, I mean pumping out the booth of excess fluids, washing down the interior and repairing any clogs or mechanical parts.

The more the booth is used, the more parts wear out and maintenance must be performed to keep the booth up and running. Every salon owner has their own favorite booth. Some like the Mystic, others like the Hollywood Tan and still others like the Celebrity Tan booth. Whichever you prefer, make sure you have a plan to keep the booth clean and in properly maintained.

The number of sunless tanners are increasing and the spray booth must be in tip-top shape to ensure a proper tan.

Re: How big is the sunless market?

Name ONE salon owner that likes the Hollywood Tan booth!!

Or Sunspritz or any of the others by the same name!

House of Tan is absolutely correct -- don't get into sunless unless you intend to buy good equipment, take care of it, use quality solution (with your booth calibrated properly to use it for the best results) and well-trained staff willing to go into DETAIL about how to get top quality results with each and every client.

We have a HUGE repeat customer base for sunless, and "win over" many that had bad experiences elsewhere. I believe our increase in business is not an across-the-board increase in sunless everywhere or even in my market, but rather, a reflection of all we have done RIGHT in offering this service to our customers.

Just like we do with our UV equipment! :)

Re: How big is the sunless market?

Well Said!

I like this point the most:
"with your booth calibrated properly to use it for the best results"

Such a shame that people will put an otherwise good solution in a unit made for another type and not adjust the spray. Such as CalTan premium Dark in a Mystic.

Even if the proper juice is being used with the correct unit, it still needs to be calibrated when set up.

And then... there is the crap juice. Come on people, when you do the math you are only saving a few cents to a dime per spray and killing your chance of repeat business and the sunless market in general.

And then... there is the old juice. DHA has a shelf life, obey it.

And then...
And then...
And then...

Re: How big is the sunless market?

Can you do that? Use California Tan solution in a Mystic booth? Does it work? Is it cheaper? I know Mystic is expensive and the last time I checked Caltan isn't cheaper?

Re: How big is the sunless market?

They are both good. Your Mystic if set up properly would be better suited using Mystic solution.

If you want to run CT, you will need to adjust the unit, altho some use CT in the Mystic and swear they get great results and have never changed a thing.

Re: How big is the sunless market?

The one thing that Mystic, Magic and many other manufacturers will tell you is that you MUST use their solutions. I've heard they have also negated warranties because of the salon owner changing solutions. Personally, if you know your booth and know how to adjust the spray, then use what works best. I never want to have the job as "Lotion Police" for our booth and we have decided that if you like another solution better...USE IT. Out booth is set up so that it will use other solutions. No damage and no sweat. Warranty is still 3 years.

Living here in Florida and just down the road from Prosun (they sell the Sunspritz/Hollywood Tan system which is the same junk) I have to be nice as I use Prosun UV beds. :) They may repossess me.

Re: How big is the sunless market?

Mr Belvedere,
thanks for the rescue!! Will see you in about 6 months...you need to change your call sign to Superman...a hero to all of us..;) I am sure many people like Caltan just like many like Mystic. My point is if Caltan is just as good than advertise that in your window and menus and not "Mystic Tan." Then as a consumer I have a choice to shop elsewhere for Mystic and the ones that like the Caltan can choose as well.
Mr B........tipping my AF hat to you!!

Re: How big is the sunless market?

Shrish, I assure you that I am not trying to stir anything up. I am just truly interested in an honest review of why you like Mystic better than Caltan. You didn't just say be truthful. I agree 100% with truth in advertising and full disclosure. You stated that Caltan is crap. Why do you have that opinion? What is it about the results that make you say that?
