Re: How big is the sunless market?
engfant,
seriously.. you have dealt with some really bad spray tans. Please dont hate on us all because of it. I teach how to keep from fading poorly with products and maintenance just as you would teach someone to use the proper lotions to get the best out of the beds. Tanning is unique to the individual, just like all skin types are unique. You have to educate and provide for each client based on their skin. Why are you calling sunless tanners brain dead? I have read about the sunless sprayers on this site since May, MOST if not all have no issue with beds. What we offer is an alternative and we are selling BOTH. If people get blotchy they should be offered a cocktail option and not spray so dark. Every spray tan is customizable. |

Re: How big is the sunless market?
Because it's unnecessary in my opinion. There are better alternatives that actually have some health benefits and I just see it as a product that came to light in an attempt to destroy the very industry it was injected into.
Now that we have seen the actual damage it has created and how NECESSARY actual sun exposure is on a regular basis the reason for continuing this practice seems ridiculous. At least on a large scale. I mean, I'd say the same about body wraps, Infrared, whatever weight-loss scam is going around these days. Proved UNNECESSARY long ago. Not eating is still #1 in weight loss. Not dehydrating someone to unhealthy conditions. Bottom bottom line, sensible sun exposure is not only NOT dangerous but necessary to keep yourself in top shape. These people would never be doing this if they didn't think they were doing themselves a favor by AVOIDING the sun. I don't want these peoples' monies. It's like stealing from the blind. Poll the people as to why they choose spray over UV and 4 out of 5 times I WILL PROMISE they will give a reason that is the EXACT OPPOSITE of reality. But that's just what I think.

Re: How big is the sunless market?
Laughable,
Everyone I have ever known including myself goes to the tanning beds for the color. Everyone that comes to get sprayed is for the color. I absolutely sit in the sun, with sunscreen on. I tan in the beds with lotion on. All of us need sunlight that is a given. Bottom line tanning is for color not health, in the true sense of the word. Maybe well being, healthy state of mind? I think I have actually met 2 people that use the beds to improve skin conditions. But, just long enough to get sun exposure but not a tan? NEVER Are you actually trying to say that achieving a tan in a bed is for health reasons? Have you ever seen anyone come in to just get artificial sunlight just for healthy reasons and not get a tan? Maybe you are right, I am missing something.. |

Re: How big is the sunless market?
Tan is a side effect of good health. So yes, I have a ton of customers that are tanning for the health benefits.

Re: How big is the sunless market?
Can you put into words how "I physically feel much better with UV rays". In what way? I'm not trying in argue your point as much as try to understand it. You can drink milk with Vitamin D everyday, which is healthy but I'm not sure you could say it makes you "physically feel much better".

Re: How big is the sunless market?
Quote:
Vitamin D is not a vitamin at all. It's a hormone that your body produces when it's exposed to the sun. It was discovered back in the day as a vitamin when they found food high in a specific whatever helped cure rickets. The next vitamin in line was D so Vitamin D was born. FAST FORWARD A FEW YEARS It is discovered that when your body is exposed to the sun it starts to produce a hormone which is this Vitamin D but now realized to NOT be a vitamin at all. HERE'S THE FUNNY PART The "vitamin D" your body produces acts kinda like the gasoline for your entire immune system. Makes everything work correctly. When you don't have enough then certain parts of your immune system starts lagging behind. If it slacks too much, you start opening yourself up to problems INCLUDING skin cancer. (WAIT IT'S COMING...) Milk and other fortified foods do contain Vitamin D but not the "vitamin D" your body produces. That's Vita D3. Food is fortified with VitaD2. Not the same thing. ALSO (this is it!!!!) milk and doctors only recommend taking in 100IUs a day. WELL, WHEN YOU SIT IN A TANNING BED, YOUR BODY WILL PRODUCE UP TO 10000IUs of Vita D3. That's 10,000 in under 15min in most cases. Clearly your body seems to think that 100IUs is not quite enough and not even the correct vitamin. ALSO, (THIS IS A BIGGIE) if you tried to take 10,000IUs in supplement form you'd damage your liver cause it's toxic. When your body produces it it's NEVER toxic. (and the sad truth is...) All ILLNESSES HAVE DONE UP SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF SPF AND THE SUN SCARE. ALL OF THEM. THE FDA DOES NOT CLAIM THAT SPF PROTECTS YOU FROM CANCER. THEY NEVER SAID THEY DID. THEY JUST ALLOW THE COMPANIES TO GET AWAY WITH SAYING IT. Most people get little to no sun everyday except when they walk to and from their car and work. About 10-20min a day. WITHOUT SUNSCREEN this would actually be enough to keep your Vitamin D levels up enough to be in good health. BUT we are SCREAMED AT to ONLY WEAR COSMETICS THAT HAVE SUN SCREEN. So they have managed to all but shut down everyone's immune systems JUST ENOUGH to be able to spin what they are doing to make it look like STUPID KIDS PLAYING IN THE SUN DID THIS and then they can point the finger at an industry that SELLS THIS RAY OF DEATH TO THE STUPID UNKNOWING CHILDREN. When it's them all along shutting us down. So to answer your question as to why your body feels good in the tanning bed it's for a number of reasons but the #1 REASON IS BECAUSE YOUR BODY IS STARVING FOR SUNLIGHT AND YOU ARE DUMPING IT ON ALL AT ONCE AND YOUR BODY IS DRINKING IT UP AND TURNING BACK ON. 100% opposite of lethargic which is the reality behind how your body stays healthy. It's actually the "cure".
