I am opening a new salon and I want to have airbrushing instead of a booth. Everyone around me has a booth, and I dont think anyone has even heard of the handheld spray. I want to learn how to do this well, and with good products, so that it can become my specialty. How has your reponse been to the airbrushing? Do people like it? How do you advertise it, what are its selling points over the booth? Do you think it is a good idea to start with that?

Handheld spraytan is a good thing.I have been doing it for six months and i really enjoy it.Alot of customers that come to me have used the sprayboothe and they were very unhappy with it.Alot of it has to do with how they prep their clients before they enter the booths. There has been clients that came in and they had the orangest feet and hand. That is caused from not putting barrier cream on their hands and feet.A handheld gun you can definantly make sure the whole body gets covered. No missed spots. You should go over the body twice to make sure.I have used california tan, premeium dark.garunteed not to turn geen.Really good product but leaves tou stickey longer.Biddiscombe,a really good product dry quickly.I am on my last 10oz.I think then iam going to try jamiaca me tan or fantasy tan.

In my salon I use the Personal Touch Air Brush Tanning system. All of the clientel I have right now at one point used the spray booths and totally disliked them. They have said it is like being in a gas chamber. As I am spraying the client you can already see the difference in the skin tone. I love the product that I am using right now.

The difference we have seen is the shear quality and longivity of the color. We have been doing air-brush tanning for over a year now and went through the same struggle on to bring in a booth or to stary with the airbrush. Most of my clients have done a booth and are hooked on air-brush and won't go back to a booth. Advertise the quality aspect. A customer called in yesterday and asked why would I want to stand in front of you and be embarrased when I can do a booth and have the privicy. My response was would you rather be embarrased for 15 min in front of me or embarrased for 7-9 days with bad color. Yes, airbrushing takes longer but the results are unmeasurable! We have approximately 20-30 per week now. Yes we could have a booth and be making more but it's hard to guarantee the quality. With airbrushing you know that the quality is there and there is a more personal touch to find out what your customers want most. Good luck and God bless!
