I didn't do anything but look it up here is where I got it word for word. Good try though. LOL

And no that is not the only way to treat it. But good try. It is very effective though.

Re: What will clients come up with next????

NO. NOT MINERAL OIL. Coal Tar and mineral oil ARE NOT THE SAME THING.

Milk and **** both come from a cow. Does that mean they are both the same thing?

If so, drink up Vaseline queen.

Re: What will clients come up with next????

Never once said they were the same Where did I say that. You're not even making sense now. So which one is milk to you and which on is ****. I think a better analogy would be **** and ****. And you drink up .

According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, coal tar is a Group 1 carcinogen

Re: What will clients come up with next????

Asscream,

"Not just baby oil. I mean baby oil gel. AND NO I DON'T EXPLAIN HOW BAD MINERAL OIL IS TO MY CUSTOMERS. But I do explain how bad it is for my acrylics on my tanning beds.

Oh by the way mikejones I read how you wrote that coal tar is so effective for a treatment isn't that a petroleum by product? Why would you recommend this if it was so bad? Huh?"

Firstly ,Baby oil gel is the same as baby oil. Thickened mineral oil. Then you follow up with stating that COAL TAR and mineral oil are both petro by products which they are.

I then point out that it's only to be used when needed as a MEDICATION and there really isn't an alternative unless you see a doctor.

You are NOT in the same position. There are many alternatives to mineral oil that can be used as barrier cream. You'd rather not spend the money though. You'd rather NOT inform them of how they should be using products that DO NOT CONTAIN mineral oil EVEN THOUGH you know the "risks" involved JUST to SAVE MONEY.

I say use Coal Tar ONLY when necessary.

You say use it TO SAVE MONEY.

Boy is must SUCK when you are wrong.

Re: What will clients come up with next????

Why I was saying gel instead of oil is not because I think they are different components of mineral oil. Just less mess for the customer thicker. That is all. Barrier cream doesn't work, I used them all it is just lotion. Where ever the gel is no tan, put on toenails, bottoms of feet, and palms works better than anything I have used. Anyone who has a booth I really recommend to try it. I works.
I still use barrier cream but only on elbow and knees and dry areas anywhere i want it to penetrate but not too much so as far as being cheap no that is not why I use it. I use it because it is effective the very same reason you recommend coal tar. Coal tar is a type one carcinogen. Mineral oil is not. So why would you make a stab at me for giving a little advice when you recomend something that is way worse? I never said I use it to save money. Where did you even get that from sound like you pulled it out of your ***. Quote me where did I say it huh? Go back and read my posts where did I say that?

Any one who does spray tans or has a booth humor me and try the baby oil gel please post and let me know what you think of it. If you custom spray put on the bottoms of the feet I am telling you it works. I have spray alot I mean alot tried everything. It works. If you are worried of dropping dead from using baby oil gel, try destin(used on diaper rashes) works just as good but a little more messy. If anyone wants more info or advice on spray tanning just pm me I will help. Tanology :)

Re: What will clients come up with next????

I have noticed that the Mystic Barrier Cream doesn't work quite like they advertise in the Mystic instructional video. Each time a new person comes in to try Mystic for the first time, I have them watch the video and then i make sure one of us walks them back to the booth, and goes into more detail. I personally tell people they must "cake" the cream on the places they do not want the spray, (cuticles, palms, creases in wrists etc...) and I tell them not to rub it in, to leave enough on so they can still see the lotion on their hands. It's annoying to have to do this each time, but i do it because I don't want to get a call the next day. I try to tell customers as much as i can before they do it, you wouldn't believe it but one time i had this woman demand that I not only refund her, but PAY for the shirt she ruined because she didn't follow the directions about avoiding "aquatic activites" for the initial 4-6 hours... The solution came off on her white lace top because she got sprayed and then spent the next 5 hours out in the sun sweating at some picnic. She honestly wanted me to buy her shirt for her... Hmm... I think Im going to try and find a cheaper version of the Mystic brand cream... among all the other things I have to do before Season hits hard...

Re: What will clients come up with next????

Sounds like you are a good salon owner. I have a sunless sheet with the do's and don'ts and I also have a waiver form. I will try to find them and send them to you lisa. Can you pm me your email address. I know what you mean barrier creams are just thick lotions. Great for elbow and knees but not hands and feet. I also recommend the barrier cream on acne faces. Alot of the time if the person has acne it pulls in the solution more so I tell acne customers to apply a thin coat of barrier cream to their face(rub it in). Just let me know if you want me to email the sheets to you. Also when they make their appointment I always tell them to wear loose comfy dark clothing while it processes. Otherwise they are taking the chance of it tranferring to clothing. Just let me know if I can help in anyway.

Re: What will clients come up with next????

Tanology & lisa, I have been using myself & recommending to clients for areas that they don't want to get AS sprayed or 'mystic-ky' (my own word i think!) to use as an option to the barrier cream any of the Body Shop Butters . . you only need a little!

ok, ya, I cant sell it myself BUT i have been using it myslef after a LOT of trial & error . . . the area will still 'tan' but lighter depending on how much you use - a THICK layer will block the DHA from hands & feet, a thin one like on my legs, wrists, etc. will make it so when i shave or wax i'm not streaky)-

I experimented with everything from Forever After(streaked the DHA), Matahari's Luminous (3rd runner up from the lot i've tried - works pretty well), DS Angel, Bobbi Brown's Beach lotion (not thick enough to block), Guinot, Bath & bodyworks, Synergy's cutie patootie, Fiji Heiress (too light), Aveeno (close second to the body butter, not bad) and Fiji's Tantric (on par with the butter, sadly a little pricey even at cost!)

on my face, of late I have been using Fiji's Vivid - works nice in a thin layer, as you say Tanology, if I do happen to have a zit it prevents it from 'grabbing' the bronzer & does not make my oily t zone any worse

good luck ladies! excellent tips

***and Tanology - you keep on keeping your small salon FABULOUS! it is not the size that matters, it's the technique! (tried to get you some brownies & i am blocked for the day)
