Anyone ever have spray tan not take (hvlp)
Had a client come to me after being sprayed, twice at another salon, both times solution didt take to her skin.

I sprayed her yesterday, and the same thing happened. she was really pleased with the color but when she took her shower after the six hours, there was no tan left..

She did shower shave and exfoliate, no moisturizer before being sprayed..

I'm thinking it was the soap she used, (she used carress) What do you think???

she used exfoliating pads, someone gave them to her, she didnt remember the name (orange marble color) all she remembers,,, she called a few minutes ago, said she thinks she looks like she has gotten more color.. I told her next time not to use caress soap.. and to use the exfoliater that I sell here.. Hopefully next time it will take better..

Ask your client about the skin care products they are using. EACH time we have encountered this it has been a result of MINERAL OIL! Some of the most famous names use this industrial waste in their skin products. IT is "Motor Oil" Just like on the shelf at Wal-mart" it places a thin plastic barrier on the skin that no WATER based products can penetrate. This also means they are unlikely to TAN in UV equipment with any great success either.

The next post is the flyer that we post in our lobby to help educate our clientele on this oil.

And YES it REALLY WILL BREAK DOWN ACRYLIC. This is not a joke that the reps tell us to sell their lotion. If you dont believe it get some "Baby oil" and pourit on an ols piece of acrylic. It will be damaged in a few hours of uv exposure.

Mineral Oil Fact Sheet

Mineral oil is a common ingredient in many household products. It is found in lotions, soaps, cosmetics and motor oil. Mineral oil is a clear, liquid oil with no scent and will not spoil. It is produced as a byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil. Mineral oil is the leftover liquid, and because it is abundant, it is very inexpensive. In fact, it is more expensive to dispose of mineral oil, than to purchase it.

Mineral oil is the main ingredient in many baby care items as well. Baby oil, Vaseline® (petroleum jelly), baby wash liquid soap, and baby lotions all contain mineral oil as a key ingredient. As mentioned above, manufacturers can buy it very inexpensively and it will not spoil.

The problem is that mineral oil is foreign to the human body and has many harmful effects, especially on infants.

¤ Mineral oil acts as a thin plastic layer on the skin.

¤ It is difficult to absorb and clogs the pores, which slows the skin’s ability to eliminate toxins. Remember, the skin is the body’s largest organ and plays an important role in maintaining overall health!

¤ Once the oil is absorbed, it is broken down by the liver and passes through the intestinal tract. And once the oil is present in the intestinal tract, it will absorb all of the fat-soluble vitamins found there. It is essentially stealing important vitamins from the body, which the body will not be able to replace. This can eventually lead to nutritional deficiencies.

¤ Studies have also shown forms of pneumonia caused by mineral oil decreasing lung function, known as lipoid pneumonia. Because of these dangers, the medical community has condemned the use of mineral oil taken orally or as an ingredient in medications.

Given these harmful effects, when caring for babies, it is best to use all natural products. Many caretakers know that babies love to put their hands in their mouths. This also means that whatever is on their hands is also going in their mouth, and into their bodies. It is best not to chance your baby’s health with mineral oil and petroleum-based products.

Please examine all your bath & beauty products to check for this poisonous oil refinery by-product. We recommend you properly dispose of any products found with this byproduct by placing them into your solid waste garbage. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you pour this down a toilet or sink! This poisons our Water supplies!

There are conflicting opinions on mineral oil. It does keep air off the skin however, that is what a good anti-oxidant is supposed to do . It does not suffocate the skin as mentioned above. It does not become solid so therefore cannot clog pores. It is not derived from crude oil or motor oil. Cosmetics grade mineral oil is one of the safest, most non irritating and effective moisturising ingredients.
