California's spray system includes gallons of lotions, after-care products, marketing materials, a portable enclosure, ect. Austalian Gold's system is sold alone, but it is laser, for around the same price. Have you used either of these? I figure if I buy Cal Tan's , then AG will come out with a whole line. Do you think California Tan's spray lotion is good?

Honestly, I don't see the benefit in purchasing the Laser equipment. I mean, really, all it helps you with is making sure your gun is the right distance from the body. Are you really going to need that once you have sprayed 3 or 4 times? I never had a problem measuring the distance between the gun and the body.

And as far as the Cal Tan, personally, I don't see the benefit in purchasing a package unit if you have never tried the product. Would you want to end up with a lot of product that you don't like? It seems like a waste of money to me. In my experience, I purchased a TC3 from Liquid Assets, they helped with any marketing that I may have needed (I had already been spraying for a while, so I didn't really need a lot), they sent me a free gallon of solution (which paid for the unit in sprays), if I ended up not liking the solution (which I do love) I can switch to a different solution and not have excess just sitting around.

A lot of the reviews that you find about either of these (CalTan or AG) products will be from tanning salon owners, which, understandably, they are already using these products for their UV side, and have great results, so they assume that they have great sunless products also. I have used several solutions, some by big names, some by not so big names. It seems to me the better quality products are in the small names, the ones that aren't created by huge labratories and divied out as private labels, and by companies that's main focus is in the sunless field, rather than UV field.

Go with the CalTan. It is one of the best on the market.

One other thing: The TC3 is the same as the CalTan 4000. There might be a slight difference in the actual turbine, but the gun and the turbine are both made by Apollo; Again, just different packaging.

The main thing I like about CalTan is that everything you need to get started is in this kit. Also, they have many products to sell with the tan experience. The only reason I considered Australian Gold's system was because I was worried that if someone else bought it, the local clients would be wowed by the laser. Also, with a small community to work with I was hoping to cash in on name reconition. However, I have heard good things about Liquid Assets lotion. Thanks for info!

If anything, the laser is a potential liability. What if you pointed that thing at someone's eye and they complained they were having problems with their sight. The laser is just a something they like to make you think you need. I personally wouldn't want someone with a laser pointing it on psrts my body as if they are scrutinizing every part as they are spraying me. The products that come with the Caltan package are great for add on sales.

I have the AG laser machine and I absolutely love it. Have had it for about two years now. People love the fact that it is laser guided. They think they are getting really "special" treatment. I usually just use the laser for the effect although I can practically do it with my eyes closed by now. The person who designed the machine has become a great friend of mine. He really knows his stuff and I am totally confident that it is one of the best machines out there.

I used to sell the Austrailian gold system
(the reason I stopped is because I couldn't sell a $2000 spray on tan system know that there were wonderful ones available for 1/2 that amount and still feel good about myself at the end of the day) and the laser is wonderful when you are first starting out and when you are getting too much overspray to retrain yourself. But it really isn't worth the investment. I am only aquanted with the old Cal Tan Systems (and I am sure they have improved on the quiet box that caused them to blow out) so I can't comment on that one. But from the information I have they are both rather expensive compared to the new LVLP's I know that austrailian gold is coming out with a new smaller system that doesn't have the Laser I don't know when but I really think it is worth taking a look at. I don't sell this system. In order to not get my message zapped I will not state which one I do sell. If you would like to know please E Mail me ajbenn@peoplepc.com

Re: California Tan 4000 or Australian Gold Laser?

Just to remind you AG systems are made by fuji, which are one of the best systems on the market not only for spray tanning but for painting as well. Australian Gold just puts their logo on it and sells it for retail. However if you order directly from Fuji you get the system close to half the price.
