Rep Power: 0 | Need help--please read the entire situation. I am seeking help from those who have been airbrushed or own a salon that does airbrushing--not spray booths. I work at a local salon, but have been there for many years so it is like my own salon. We are considering an airbrush machine, but here are all the details: 1. We already have the Mystic Tan (I feel this could be controversial to customers) 2. But; no one in the area does airbrush and the business is in a relatively busy area, and we are ranked the top salon in the city (200 ppl average per day) 3. We do not know much about airbrushing (brands, how it works, duration of tan, nude or clothed) I need all the information, mainly opinions I can get. If you have both an airbrush and a spray booth, I would really like to e-mail you and talk to you about it. If you have been airbrushed, let me know what you think (and if possible, in comparison to a spray booth). Need lots of details, especially from other salon owners and professionals! Thanks so much. |

Rep Power: 24 | First off, Airbrush is a particular type of spray gun , longer application and uses a compressor. ect. You will want to go with a HVLP System (high volume low pressure) and it has a Turbine Motor, much faster & less over spray. Everyone must wear bottoms, girls can go topless. I provide nose plugs & hair caps. I have the TurboBronzer by Cal Tan and have sprayed a couple hundred people. Lasts as long as the mystic (fades like a natural tan) I provide them with the Cal Tan Suddenly Sun Brochure that explains how to take care of it & the "Do's" & "dont's", it also describes all the sunless products & there usess. My client's tell me they like the color better than the Mystic. I am now using 2 differnt solutions by Breeze ( #5 & #9 ) by the way, Breeze makes all the Mystic Tans Solution . I can have you in & out in 15 min. The nice thing is that you can do legs or arms or face without doing the entire body, I can make your legs darker, ect.....or just do your face, I like to call it body Detailing. |

Rep Power: 21 | I dont use the spray booth, although there are 2 other salons in town that do. I use the airbrush , went with this because of the price. I like the airbrush better for a few reasons. I can do touch ups with the airbrush if the client messes something up, gets wet ect. I dont need clients to redo the whole spray, less soultion used. Also with the airbrush I am able to certain areas, like just the face, an upper half or bottom half if they is just a certain area that the client wants sprayed. I charge more for the airbrush than the booths charge and I keep plenty busy. Not to say one is better than the other, this is just what works for me. |

(not knocking the booth) Also, it is suggested not to spray clients in the nude. It is generally okay for the women to go topless if they & you are comfortable. Another, good thing with using the HVlP is that since you will be new to this it is much easier to learn than the smaller guns (a airbrush ) People tend to pick up the HVLP much faster. The duration of the tan really depends on solution , clients skin type, and how well they maintain the tan. Some suggestions would to be offer the after tan care sheets to the client when you have finsihed with the session. You can type & print these sheets yourself or look online where as so many people tell you what to do and not to do. I can email you some forms if you would like. Such as the client waiver forms, client info, pre & post care.. I have owned & operated an airbrush tannig salon, & mobile routes.. So I have much experience with ab tanning. I will be more than happy to help you anyway that I can. Good luck on your new endeavor. I really think it will be a good asset to add to you salon.
