I have been tanning a customer of mine regularly about every two weeks. She always complains of a slight itch while her solution is soaking in, but she takes an anahistemine (sp?) and it goes away. I use Evo (from Biddiscombe) on her and bronze drops, it does it even with no drops. I had her use sluffs the last time I tanned her instead of the Renew from Biddiscombe to see if that might help, but she said it was worse and she broke out in a rash. I figure that it is something in the DHA that is causing her to itch. Any suggestions, any ideas, she wants to keep tanning, but of course if you have to itch and get a rash why bother. I thought maybe if I go with a lower DHA content and get some samples from some reputable companies that might help her itching. She itches even with the sunless lotion she uses sometimes too. She likes to be dark though. Thanks.

she is allergic to a ingredient in the solution . Try some other companies whose product is vastly different to see if this cures the issue. Does she itch if she uses a self tanner or bronzer that has DHA in it also?

she could be allergic to DHA - about 5 % of caucasian poulation is, you could try a solution whch uses erythrulose instead of DHA - color is more subtle but if she is allergic to DHA . . . .

Yes, she itches no matter if it is airbrush or over the counter lotions.

Does your solution have alcohol in it? That could also be a problem!

She is allergic to DHA. If it is mildly uncomfortable for her, she may simply take a Benadryl and her reaction will pass. However, each time she is sprayed her reaction may intensify, and I would not recommend spraying her too often, if at all any more without a note from her doctor.

It sucks for her, but she could always use a cosmetic bronzer...The Sally's Airbrush Legs in an aerosol can works well, but it is only a cosmetic, and will come off in the shower with soap and water. It's pretty messy stuff to spray, so I would suggest she try spraying it into a gloved hand and applying it that way.

Sorry...that sucks! She can try a solution that contains only Erythrolose, and NO DHA, but she will most likely have a similar reaction.

Does she shave right before spraying? If so, tell her to not shave 2 or 3 days before. In our Miracle Mist training, we tell the customers to not shave their legs the day before because it might cause irritation.
