I may not be bright but I got a REAL TAN not some rub on GHETTO CACA. There is no real demand for it as it's all over the place. From what I see, the self tanners fall in the under 16 and over 50 crews...I MY opinion, these are probably the most UNDEReducated groups of people in terms of PROPER TANNING. ALSO they are the most STUBBORN when it comes to learning something new and the ones looking for the best deals AND the ones that COMPLAIN THE MOST. And we didn't get to the act of spraying. Yeah, I need that aggravation like I need another asscrack. |

There is no question that spray tanning has produced some wonderful commerce, and will continue. Here's the downside, UV bashing will increase to a feverish pitch when the 'new retailers' want to set up in your neighbourhood.

Engfant how would you know what kind of clients it brings in. I prefer the beds also. The spray works though I think looks great. Neon you can get a good one for 15 - 20k. GIve in join us. I also dont have to buy eqipment. You know I just manage. Maybe it would be different if I had to actully pay for it. They make money though.

I agree that in some areas they are good money makers, but not here at the price I'd have to pay. Air-brushing seems to be the more dominant Sunless business in this area, with a much better return on investment.
The unfortunate part of Sunless "tanning" is that there are too many money hungry people providing the service without fulling informing their clients of the negatives. IE: dha is safe (not proven when used in mist form),not providing the necessary safety items (filters), spraying people who are heading to the Tropics and who think they are getting any type of UV protection. Sunless is great for those who cannot develop a UV tan and who are at a greater risk of developing UV related medical problems, but on the other hand, it also creates risks by further scaring people out of the sun, for which there are proven benefits. I'm not totally against sunless, I just happen to believe that humans need a certain amount of UV exposure and that scaring more out of the "sun" is creating more problems than it is solving. |

I don't really want to enter my comments on this fuelling debate but really can't help myself . Being in Australia with one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world, and having had a skin cancer removed myself I am a die-hard sunless tanner! I agree we all need some type of UV exposure for Vitamin D but most of us receive this just going about our day-to-day activities. Spray tanning is absolutely booming here in Australia and pretty much every single tanning salon that was only doing UV tanning has now incorporated UV free into their business because, bottom line, they were aware they were losing business to UV free tanning methods. Good preparation, application, solution and aftercare are what make a great sunless tan and for me personally, and the multitude of spray tanning clients I have, get a better tan using sunless products than we ever have using solariums or lying about sunbaking. The biggest market for UV free here in Australia is 25-50 years olds and about a third of these being men.

Why do you have that Cancer rate? Because 20-25 yrs ago no one knew any better, they were out there cooking themelves up, and it had taken this length of time for the cancer to appear. Sunless is booming because some Gov. entity has scared everyone out of the sun. Now you are taking sunless tanning and making the situation even worse! Poor bass fishermen??
