Please give me some suggestions on where I can get an inexpensive Spray tan backdrop. Cal Tan makes two - one is $399 and the other is $899. |
Have you seen what they are made of, make your own. three panels of Mdf sealed and painted ($30.00). Three 24" box fans ($45.00), some simple brackets to hold furnace filters ($$15.00) total $90.00 and some elbow grease. |
thats how i have my room...looks great....i even seen another salon use 99 cent shower curtains for 1 week then throw them away....but the boards from Lowes work great and will clean up with a clorox / swiffer type gadget with regular bed citrus cleaner and disinfectant and walla clean walls and floor without bending over...i do however use the throw away papers from 4 seasons for the customer to stand on...my whole room cost me 300. if you wanna see it i will send ya a pic...just email me...i even bought my guns and compressor there...oh so add another 110. on for that and thats the total of my room... |
some PVC pipe with connectors to make a V or a u shape. Get dark fabric shower curtains to string around with a dark fleece blanket on the floor. Small hand towel to stand on....costs about $30 for the whole thing! |
built my own spray booth this week, with costs under $125 as I had some materials on hand. The remainder was purchased at Lowe's. No overspray on the laminate and the three exhaust fans captured the remaining overspray. Very happy with this setup. One switch controls lighting, the exhaust fans, the HVLP......simple. Even have a timer for the customer to signal the front desk when they are ready! Tried it last night and it worked perfectly. It took about 3.5 hours to cut and construct, but saved lots of $$$$!!! All of the info can be found at www.abtan.com. I modified my design to fit my room and used 2 x 4's instead of MBF, but basically the same idea. Good Luck! |
Good idea on the timer...i put in a 9.00 wireless doorbell for the front desk...we howl every time it goes off...its great...thanks for sharing...have a great nite.... |
I am in the process of building a spray backdrop for our airbrush system and have one question. With the box fans and furnace filters mentioned above, where is the air vented. Do simple furnace filters actually filter out all of the spray or do I need to evacuate the air out of the store. We are currently working with no real ventilation and clearly need some but I want to make sure I am not merely moving dirty air to other parts of the store. Thanks. Blue |
NEON??? |
The filters should filter it out. Good quality ones, if not put some on the back side of the fans too. |
use a product called coroplast. You can buy it in 4' x8' sheets from your local sign supplierfor under $20( looks like cardboard, but made from plastic usually white or black) This Stuff is great! All the spray just wipes off and you have clean walls again. We tried Melamine boards at another salon but the solution ate through the melamine coating, so dont wast time on that one. formica and other laminates dont work well either |
