To start out, I will say that I do offer airbrush tanning. I have been entertaining the idea of getting a spray booth or go with the HVLP. The reason the booth is so attractive is because you don't have to make appointments.
I finally went into a spray booth to see what it was like. I have had friends get in one, but I never have personally. Before I go try others, I was looking for some help. First- When I got in, I did the barrier cream, etc. And I really used a lot, but my feet look bad. My hands are ok. Is there another way to protect the feet. Second- With airbrush, you dry with the fine mist of solution. With the booth, I was showered and then had to towel off. Is that common? The color is hard to determine because I am already tan. I am going to send my fair-skinned son into one and see how he does and what the color looks like. Also, what is the typical room size you need. This room was HUGE. Thanks. |

We use those slipper that you see Dr's wearing in surgery to protect the feet. I have a problem with toweling off. It would seem that it takes all of the solution off of you the same as when you dry off after a shower. Our booth does not require drying off, you exit the booth almost dry. For those customers with a good tan, I try to get them to put on a sticker. It's easier to see the bronzer effect.
If you had a not too good of an experience in the booth you tries, please remember there are others out there that don't use as much solution and have numerous other positive aspects as well. |

If your feet look bad that means you didn't do the cream just right. I promise...every time you do it you will get better. I am a mystic pro now
Yes, you towel off...that's another neat thing about the booth. Dry off and go. Make sure they put your son on the right level of spray or he won't look right. |

Rub the feet after you are out of the booth. comes out more even. Since the mist is heavier than air, more lands on the feet and is heavier there. the booties just provide a better protection for the bottom of the feet. Don't want tanned soles.

Ok...how do you adjust the level? They didn't mention that. He is a skin type 2A. What level would you recommend? I really don't want him picked on at school...he is a teenager and they are vicious.
Funny thing is my soles are ok...it's the sides and tops. Angelcat, how much barrier cream do you need? So the booties you talk about only cover your soles? Thanks. |

The booties from Mystic come up over the tops of your feet as well and leave lines. I don't know about ramcat's. We tell people COVER YOUR FEET with the barrier cream. Start below your ankle and make sure you get between your toes, around toenails, etc. I do 2 applications of barrier cream. 1st time I will rub it in...2nd time I cake it on and don't rub it in. Mystic has level 1,2,and 3. Being his 1st time and his complexion I would do him on a level 1.
I honestly believe that salons not putting people on the correct levels is why a majority of people don't like spray booths. |

In our booth, there is only one level. No guessing. No orange color either. If your soles are Ok then spread barrier cream on the areas you do not want tanned. Use plenty. You can always wipe it off. The booties are like socks that cover the botton, the toes and slightly around the top edges of the foot. You must rub down these areas to ensure a smooth tan. If you forget it, you will have lines like Angelcat said. See, I don't hide anything..... The biggest secrets in sunless tanning is making sure the barrier cream is on those areas you don't want tanned and make sure you use the mirror to see that the bronzer is smoothed out.

I completely agree. I LOVE the spray booths and so do my employees & customers. You get better and better at it every time.
I think alot of it lies in the hands of the booth operators to explain things in detail...like we do. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: angelcat04 on 2004-11-18 12:28 ] |
