Rep Power: 21 | Talk about coat weather. I'm sitting here in short sleeves, shorts and looking at the cloudless blue sky. WAIT!!!!! I just walked outside......It's soooooooooooo warm............Not too hot though. No sweating here. I do like your humidity level though. Ours is always 100%. Go figure, its Florida. By the way, If you think that the sunless advertisers should do things different, what about the UV advertisers? Aren't they doing the same thing? |

Rep Power: 21 | I don't really think that the sunless people are being overly vicious either. Their use of certain words may not be the nicest, but I haven't seen any say to "use sunless or else". They all remind me of tobacco manufactures. "Less Tar and nicotine than the other brands". Never mind that they all can kill you. |

Rep Power: 21 | What's interesting is that the dermatologists are the one's sending people to my salon to get sprayed, claiming it's safe, not me. For the most part people will believe their doctors over a salon owner every time. You would think that if the concerns about spray tanning is so obvious the Doctors would be the first to flag this latest craze? This only adds to the confusion for me. |

Rep Power: 21 | Don't ya lust love the Florida weather? Yea! Yea! Yea! OK, The tobacco companies are fighting each other. But if you look at previous entries in this and other forums, it appears to be the same within this industry. UV salons vs Sunless. Then you have (and thank goodness for them) those salons that use both and are happy. If all we had to worry about was how things were advertised, then "Live is good". There are too many other things in our industry that can cause us problems than putting too much into this area. I've seen posts concerning customers coming into our salons with their own lotions, employee issues and other things that, in my humble opinion, have a higher priority. If anyone out there really thinks that the advertising of anti/pro UV and sunless tanning is really hurting your business, then it is time you reevaluate your salon. Add the sunless, if necessary, or add UV, whichever will bake your customers happy and your salon profitable. If you want to cry "foul", you had also better have a viable solution . Don't just say "I think it is unfair" or "They should do it this way". Try to start your own advertising campaign. See how expensive it will be to just try to change someones mind or point of view. Don't just throw your hands up either. If your salon is profitable now, and your customer base is solid, chances are you will still be profitable in the future. If you see that your customers are turning to another salon because they offer something you don't, then you have to, again, reevaluate. Each of you have been in this industry long enough to see the trends. Either live with it or start thinking of retirement. Thanks for lending me the doap box....... |

Rep Power: 107 | Sunless is not hurting my business directly, or at least I'm not aware of it, it hurts the entire UV tanning industry. How, because it is an industry that has been fighting the suncare coalition for decades and just when things look a bit better for it because of people like Dr. Hollick, sunless makers and providers step up to the plate and start knocking it down again. Now not all providers of sunless are doing this, I'm speaking of the ones that do not offer UV tanning. Those who have both services I fugure, besides the lure of bigger revenues are weighing the two accordingly. Those who have sunless alone, give sunless more weight and use UV tanning as its stool as they encourage more clients to try it. Simple as that. |

Rep Power: 21 | Being that I am of the former, and not the latter, meaning I ues both and make money doing so, I pose this question: If you only did sunless, how would you advertise to convince customers to at least try your booth? |
