Norvell is what the salons around here use and I hear nothing but complaints about it being blotchy. They say when it fades it looks REAL bad....like you have a nasty skin condition. I dunno though. I say try Mystic. Everyone who has told me they disliked the airbrush has really liked Mystic.

It sounds like the areas where you are peeling are areas where you sweat more. If you are working out and getting sweaty and are wearing a bra that rubs quite a bit (sports bra or underwire) that could all be part of the problem. I own a gym and do spray tanning and learned this lesson first hand. I just spray lighter in those areas now and it practically eliminates the problem.
If you are going to get sprayed before your pageant I would suggest using the same solution because a different solution will give a different color adn may not match if the 1st tan is still on. Once you have the tan done for the pageant I would hold off on any heavy duty exercise just to keep your underarms and bra line looking fresh. I would also ask them to apray those area lighter than they are spraying the rest of you so you don't get as much rub off. Oh yeah, between now and your next appointment get yourself a good glove exfoliator and some sugar scrub and go to town. Using a tan extender with DHA after your next tan will also help a ton. I have found something with between 4-5% DHA works the best for me. Good luck in the pageant! -Kimberlee _________________ [ This Message was edited by: Kimberlane on 2004-11-01 22:41 ] |

Improper exfoliation could be one factor. You need to use a product that will not effect the sunless tan as well as use a nylon scrub glove NOT A LOOFA
Secondly, the solution could have been a bad solution or the spray was not done correctly, we have not tried Norvell,so I cannot comment. We use South Seas solution and products and our own HVLP machine(like an airbrush but better) and have done hundreds of tans with no complaints. Thirdly, If you use the wrong moisturizer(some will actually exfoliate your skin unevenly) you could get blotches. Spray tanning companies will usually recommend products specifically made for this industry. Your tanning company should have informed you of all of these things! Lastly, if your blothes were white patches this could be due to a fungal infection call Tinea Versicolor. You can pick this up from lying on tanning beds! Try exfoliating with baking soda on a nylon scrub glove. Wait a week and get a good spray tan somewhere else. By your name I assume that you are in LA. I can recommend a couple of places to have this done properly. |

Correction flashbronze: You do not "pick up" tinea versicolor. The fungus already exists on the body. UV simply makes it apparent because the skin around it gets tan. |

I STAND CORRECTED! I should have worded it differently. TV is NOT contagious but lives on everyone. Sometimes the fungus explodes on an individual due to heat and humidity. Taking the sun or UV beds exc. will only accentuate the white spots and aggravate the condition because the white spots don't tan. Hence, until the problem is under control you should avoid UV rays.
PS.... NeonBeach ...I never said that I was against tanning the "old fashioned way". I have been suntanning and using UV beds since before you were born! I am the world's biggest beach Bum...I live in the sunny Okangan so I hit the beach every other day from April to September! |

I found a product that can take off all your spray on tan in minutes. I got sprayed by a trainee and it was horrible! I used VANISH by Airbrush Tanning Florida and it worked! It took all my tan off, but you can use it to just lighten certain areas if you want. Their email is vanishdha@aol.com. I've got clients who came from other abt places and we are able to start over instead of trying to correct the blotches. Hope this wasn't too late to help. ABTFL also has a great tanning solution - I've never had anyone turn orange.

Um...Just because no one has mentioned it yet...LA Beauty:
DO NOT use any type of scrub on your new tan. If you look too orange, give it a little time, or call the salon to ask for guidance. If you are blotchy, you are most likely this way because you scrubbed the first day of your tan. Did they not give you any materials/literature of any kind to help your after tan care? Unreal. I use Norvell all the time...just started about 5 months ago and do about 3 a day on the average...none have ever turned orange...when i had a new gal for a day whom no longer works for me...she left the solution in the spray bottle over night and it had a metal peice on the straw and that could have damaged the solution...keep it out of contact with metal...also the best exfoliator we have used thus far and i carry 5 or 6 is the supree...it is full of grit and works great so you dont need anything special to exfoliate with ie: gloves etc...also the tan prolonger by Norvell can take out on any of the spots you are talking about as it is almost the same thing if not that we spray the custumer with..Norvell is the best if you ask me...i have tried several and had the best results...
