My initial response should have been "Go for it if you can".. Offer your customers every option available (if you can).

TB, go for it Diversification is the way to go.....We have the turbobronzer 3000 by Cal Tan, it is a hvlp system with a turbine motor and takes me 5 min., to spray an entire body...

I've looked at that unit. Is the tan even? What about the amount of solution used?

Yes it is even unless of coures I have had a bad day!!! hehehe At first I used alot of solution, but I have gotten pretty good at it, you can adjust the gun to spray more of less as needed!!

Thanks for everyone's input to my question... We are looking at the Cal tan turbo bronzer and hiring someone who has been trained to do it for us. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks Aloha - It is another avenue of tanning I want to offer my customers. If I start to get more requests for airbrushing, I'll add it to my salon.

I just wanted to add a piece of advice regarding contouring...

Your client really has to be in ultra good shape or just fairly thin to pull this look off convincingly. If the client is not thin or already defined muscularly, they will simply look "drawn on" and/or dirty and blotchy. To be honest, most of my clients who request it are not in the two above categories, and I tell them honestly what I think about the whole procedure. Very politely, though!

I tell them that while they won't look "buff" with a regular full body session, they will look thinner as tanned people do. I spray an extra light coat on shoulders, chest, and bridge of nose/cheekbones, as this is where the sun would have it's greatest impact anyway.

We say the newest Cal Tan HVLP unit demoed in Orlando. Their newest gun has a laser distance guide that appears to be engineered very well. The laser gives the operator the correct distance from the target (tanner) for best spray application, and you are dry within seconds, not minutes. Very impressive.
