We do our best to schedule airbrush on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. My daughter-in-law does most of them. She gets paid hourly while she is here. If someone needs a time other than that I will work with them. Right now I can do them most of the time during the day. It does get to be a nuisance, though. Especially when you bust your butt to get someone scheduled and then they no-show.

I am going to be getting a new airbrishing unit pretty soon here. Has anyone had problems with people having to be airbrushed in their underwear or bikini in front of you. I'm a male salon owner and i don't know if that would deter any customers from getting that service. I know the high school girls, because of them being so insecure with themselves, are most likely to be discouraged from it. Just please reply back to let me know if anyone has a problem with this. Thanks

Remez, We have the Turbobronzer by Cal Tan, I trained 2 girls & one male staff member, but no one wanted to get sprayed by my male employee, long story short I the owner (female) do all the spray Tanning. But I think there are a few guys on here that do it, take a survey in your salon & see what they say. ?

I too am a male salon owner and must say that I have chosen not to spray clients. I choose not to for two reasons. First, liability (being in a closed room with a nude or semi-nude woman kinda makes her word against mine tough for 12 in a box to hear my side). Secondly I think most people are self conscious about their body and most clients seem VERY relieved to find out Kim is our air brush extraordinaire. It is a challenge since they can only come when she is here but I present it that we are so busy the next available slot is...(insert Kims next shift). Now we only have one person per shift so when Kim is working we turn the door buzzer on loud and put a sign on the sign in sheet that reads "I will be right back, I am just finishing up with an ET Mist client". The sign buys a little time and advertises the ET Mist. Kim can then finish with the section of the body she is spraying and be up front within 60 sec. I will say that any new hires will have to be willing and able to spray while on the clock. And finally I pay the employee $5 per spray for the trouble and as an incentive to sell more.

That's about the exact responses that i thought i would get. I've been mentioning the idea to customers and i am getting mixed reviews not so much about the whole male/female airbrushing thing, but that they hear horror stories about the whole airbrushing thing. Some people rave about it, some people tell me not to waste my money. And i consider it a rather priced investment. The Turbo Bronzer with spray booth is gonna run me $2700. I wanna make my return + by the time the season ends. I don't wanna be stuck with a profitless airbrush system simply because the other dsalons in the area are doing shi**y jobs of airbrushing clients. But i like the idea of paying an extra $5 to your employees per airbrushing as incentive. I was thinking about a commission based pay and hiring an exclusive airbrusher and have her work strictly off of commission for the first few weeks until i could build a base clientele because i'm open long hours and i don't want to have to turn anyone down just because she's not here. I'm open til midnite, so after it's established, she can work hourly so people know her schedule, and if i get any walk-in's late nite, they'll just have to have me do it. I think i'm making up too many scenarios and confusing myself, and in turn confusing everyone else. Is anyone else dumber from reading this? I'm sorry. I had my office christmas party last night and am really tired and my mind is wandering. Reply back and let me know whay u think or anymore great ideas. I wanna be on top of things and be able to hit the ground running when all this airbrushing thing gets going.

if your good a spraying than there should not be a problem. I took one gallon of solution & offered free spray tans untill it ran out & I was confident enough to charge for it, I also practiced on card board W/water. $5 commission is what I was going to do, but they all wanted me to spray them. we do appointments only on this service.
