I am going to be tanning a man who has very hairy legs, chest & arms and wonder if there is anything I can do to make sure his tan turns out nicely. Will the bronzer look ok or will it bead up? I am using TBT Tan Extraordinaire (10%) and a Sprays of Rays II LVLP. Any advice from someone who has sprayed a very hairy person would be GREATLY appreciated:)

When I spray a very hairy person, I spray from a farther distance so it goes on a little lighter and dries quicker. Instead of a double spray I usually do a triple since I am misting more finely. Also, if there are beads of color on the hair, I just barely touch the surface of the hair with a towel or paper towel to absorb excess solution . Paper towel actually seems to absorb better. It is a little tricky but can be done if you spend a little extra time.

Pam,

Thank you very much! I talked to someone who said she uses a sponge after every tan she does, even on regular people just to even the color out. Do you think this would help all the time or do you think it would be unnecessary?

If air brushing is so hard and time consuming why not get a spray booth?

Probably because airbrushing gives better results........ As far a controlling the amount and location of solution . I have to wonder why someone so hairy wwould bother.

If you are using a system that has constant air flow, which I believe you are, it minimized the problem substantially.

The only adjustment I would make when spraying this person is possibly move slightly faster as you spray, to avoid any build up on hair. I spray several guys who are hairy and while the standard airbrush was an issue, I haven't had any of the same problems with my HVLP.
