I have a couple of regular clients who after 2 or 3 applicatons (10 days apart) are beginning to have blotchy areas even after exfoliating. I suggested to both of them to wait an extra week and exfoliate well before their next session. Any other suggestions?

Interesting to learn about client's personal selves. The skin is a wonderful organ, even with all it's complexities. In many cases, staining the skin will reveal the fact that it is alive, and ever changing. Be aware that even with external manipulations, the medium itself has inconsistencies.

So you have a couple of people you say, here's an opportunity. Why not suggest one waits a week, while sending the other through for more tanning. See what happens. There's soo much to learn.

Not trying to be too negative, but it seems we have discovered another pitfall to mist-on.

I have found that people using buffs for showering or wash cloths contribute to the "tan" coming off unevenly.

People unknowingly tend to scrub themselves in an inconsistant manner which leads to exfoliating themselves and the "tan" in a blotchy way. I have myself found that if I use only hand and soap, no buffs or wash cloths, this makes the "tan" last much longer and the uneven areas almost non-existant.

I also blend areas with a washcloth and water when, later on, the "tan" starts to exfoliate itself and needs to be blended a little and even itself out.

Of course moisturizing always is a must...

Thanks, Zabazu. I tell them to shower gently but you never know what that means to them. I also advise them to purchase a shower gel and moisturizer from us to lengthen their tan life. We almost insist that everyone who gets airbrushed purchase one of the CalTan sunless kits. If they come in before their session and prepay for it, they get the kit at a discount....helps to eliminate no shows.

One of my clients who was splotchy waited a few extra days, exfoliated well and looked much better this time she was airbrushed.
