I just called a salon and inquired whether they had a space to rent for my airbrush tanning, and I was told that it is illegal (?!!?) to rent salon space! Is this a Pennsylvania thing or what? I already have spoken to an insurance agency and they told me that a salon owner is covered under my policy, so what gives? Do I need to approach it as more of an employee thing? ANY input is helpful!
Thanks

You should check with your state or local government on that

Never sell yourself out as an employee... your profits would FAR reach what they would pay you to provide your service.

They are most likely misinformed or they just said that because they don't want to deal. No big. Find someone who does!

Re: Renting salon space for airbrushing- HELP!

I had also inquired about space at a salon and they told me the same thing. They said I needed a license. Bull$58!. They just were either misinformed or didn't want to work with me. In California there is not certification or license requirement for airbrush tanning. The only thing needed is Insurance and a business license. I think they should of just been upfront about it, but what are you going to do, right? There are people out there that would like to offer this service to their clients...where are they? LOL I'm just getting started so I have not really really attempted the search yet. ;)

IMO sunless is in a decline. If these salons saw a market for it, one would think they would be doing it already.

actually sunless is increasing but alot of people are doing it out of their homes. Makes me wonder if they are paying any taxes? Insurance? Bet their homeowners would like to know what they are doing.

Decline? Don't say that! I'm just starting! I believe I can make it work.

maybe they were talking about "subleasing" ??... It's really no differnt than a hair dresser leasing or renting their space.

Re: Renting salon space for airbrushing- HELP!

I have seen a decline in sunless as well. As for more people are doing it out of their homes, are you meaning to themselves or that people are going to their homes?
