I am confused. How can one company deny a product from coming in? If they are exclusive to your country, why not buy thru them? Is not that their purpose? I could never see that happening here. Am I missing somthing..?

No law against buying a used booth and importing it into your country...
You don't have to buy it from a distributor it's A USED BOOTH. I mean, is it worth 50 grand to warranty yourself for repairs if necessary? You could rebuy the entire booth 3 times over for the price you are talking. (JMOP) Look in the classifieds here, someone put one on for 21K asking price. |

Zabazu,
It is not quite that simple. First, the exchange rate is 1 NZD = $0.6688 USD so the related cost to her in New Zealand is $51,839 USD: xe.com Universal Currency Converter ® Results Live mid-market rates as of 2004.03.16 13:50:57 GMT. 79,900.00 NZD New Zealand Dollars = 51,838.75 USD United States Dollars 1 NZD = 0.648795 USD 1 USD = 1.54132 NZD If she was able to find the unit in the USA for $21,000 USA that would equal 32,365 NZD. xe.com Universal Currency Converter ® Results Live mid-market rates as of 2004.03.16 13:52:57 GMT. 21,000.00 USD United States Dollars = 32,364.01 NZD New Zealand Dollars 1 USD = 1.54114 NZD 1 NZD = 0.648869 USD At this point, she would have to get someone to crate the unit (after dissambly) and load onto the shippers vessel. The shipper would have to be familiar with USA and NZ import/export laws to guide her through the process. She, of course, would have to pay in advance for this unit sight unseen. Then, she could air freight the unit to NZ which would be around $3500 (she could save if she sent by boat but that would take about 6 to 8 weeks). THen, she would have to pay all import tax and duties (in advance) which, I guess, is about 5% or $2000 USD. Finally, she would have to pay the 12.5% NZ value added tax which is equivilent to $2625 USD. Now she has $29,125 invested (44,859 NZD) in a used piece of equipment with no warranty that she has never seen. I suppose she could fly to the USA to see it first (I did the same to check out a unit in the UK) but you need to add another $2500 and a week of time to the above numbers. If her capital structure is thin and if this unit does not perform or is in need of repair.........could end up being a millstone around her neck. I do this little math quiz only to show it is not as easy as one may think. HT2 |

We decided to go with "Mystic". We had checked out several of the others, and felt Mystic was the better.
Since they were really the first, and have been developing it for 15 years and finally on the market for 5 years. Seems everyone else is trying to copy it. But no one in my opinion can copy the solution. Have heard horror stories with the others about a slight orange color. (from my clientel) Would the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders endorse something they didn't believe in or would turn them orange while they are in front of millions of people? You can always go to airbrushing, it is considerably cheaper. See how that goes before you make the big investment. |

Tropical,
I agree with most of your points. It is usually best to go with those who have the most experience although not always (US auto and electronic industries for example). I do completely DISAGREE with your assertion that if the Dallas Cowgirls use it, it must be good. The Dallas Cowgirls are a franchise. They are in the business of promotion..... For the right price you can have any celebrity franchise support almost anything.....(come on, do you really think that Tiger Woods really drives a Buick? Does George Foreman really cook all his meals on a Foreman Grill? Does Suzanne Summers really stay in shape using only a thigh master?). Tiger Woods makes a lot of money playing Golf....but his endorsements are worth HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of DOLLARS. He (TIGER) actually had a 70 million dollar endorsement contract with Nike before he even graduated from college. I have always been suspect of any manufactured product whose greatest claim is a celebrity endorsement. IMHO. HT2 |

I have a Magic. I have the one for sale in the classified. I do love this machine and I have tried all the others in my area. I do not own a salon and have another bus. is my reason for selling.
Actually, Mist On was the very first of its kind, not Mystic.Mystic is a copy just like the rest. Magic improved by having no moving parts, more nossels and it does allow for better coverage, I know, I have used both, more than once. Also, the dist that I bought my machine from (for $30K, 6 months ago) tells me that my limited lifetime warrenty will go along with my machine when I sell it. I was told that mine was one of the last ones to come with this warranty, if you get one new now, you won't get it! Anyhoo, just thought I'd put in my two cents. Airmair |

I'm going to do abit more research into our laws re: Magic Tans exclusitively and where I would stand bringing in a 2nd hand booth. Not sure that MT would supply me with the solution & other consumables though!! Just another thing to weigh up
