Re: Which Auto Spray Tan Booth ??? - UK

Versa and Mystic booths faired much better than CT - I'm not giving up on CT at moment as Tracey said the salon really knew nothing about the booth and it was obvious they were not maintaining. In fact, whe she got to the salon on a pre-booked Auto Tan, the salon staff tried their best to get Tracey to have a manual spray, so they knew there were problems. They let her on anyway, had a terrible experience, ended up getting towelled down and manually sprayed anyway. I don't think this represents necessarily the performance of the booth, but more to do with the salon.

Am giving CT another chance as issues with the salon we got tested at, rather than the booth taking the entire blame.

Re: Which Auto Spray Tan Booth ??? - UK

Thanks for the pointers guys, but made my decision today. It was agreed I had received the best experience by far, following feedback from the girls. Going with the Opus 4 from i-tan, was a none brainer decision and instead of running 2 booths per salon, I only need to run 1 booth due to the flexibility and rate at which we can run clients through the booths. Really excited. I got a good price for 4 today, can run any tan through them and so little hassle to get installed. Ticks all my boxes.

Interesting; so you felt that the Opus 4 was that much better than the Cal-Tan, Versa and Mystic units?

What were the main points of intrest to you in your decision to purchase the Opus 4?

I've not purchased them just yet as I want more people to go through it and will be visiting the company that designed/makes it next week as I've been invited up for the day.

Being relatively new to sunless tanning, I don't know how valid my points will be as you guys have had years of experience with Automatic Tanning, but I will try from my perspective from a guy that puts himself in the clients place in order to run my business: -

Best way to explain treatment is with this video link, it does exactly what it says it does: - http://youtu.be/yQ11ybvfG2w You have to full-screen the video to see the spray.

I went for Norvell Clear at a medium application.... I had a white shirt on.... I had a choice of other tans but wanted to avoid dirtying my shirt. I think I'm the fattest guy they had seen for a spray tan

I'm considerably more rotund than the guy in the video and a lot more hairy, which I thought would be a big problem, but absolutely not. I found the experience extremely comfortable, was warm throughout and was guided acurately by the voice instructions. It was very easy to get sprayed and not once did I feel out of my depth. From a clients point of view, I felt I had been sprayed all over, was worth the money (£24.99) and didn't feel rushed at all, but was in and out the cubicle, dressed and dry within 15 minutes. Two of my staff in other booths it took 15 minutes but they felt cold and sticky after the treatment. For the one in CT, took 30 minutes as they ended up manually spraying her (her tan is shocking). All 3 girls had issues with hands and feet, with the 2 auto sprays white under the armpits and high up between the legs. They said experience was cold, wet, smelly and generally uncomfortable. What I found quite remarkable was the fact the booth looked clean after the tan as all the excess spray was pulled into the floor of the booth.

All said, the tan on me today is superb, very natural looking and i'm happy, doesn't even feel like a spray tan. I guess because the tan was dry when I stepped out the booth, getting dressed didn't upset the tan. With the girls, there are marks where tight clothing has been on the skin and as their skin was still sticky when they left the salons, they've managed to get tan onto their fingers etc.

From my point of view, running 4 locations and having spoken to i-tan today, I'm going to go with 4 booths and not 8. Reason i wanted 2 per location was to offer flexibility. The Opus 4 gives me all that and can run any tanning brand which they will warranty, so I've already saved a shed load of money. I maintain my marketing model and am not dictated to by the equipment supplier, just helped with what I need to achieve. On top of that, they gave me a great deal. Each booth is able to be contacted by my mobile phone, sending me a text with number of tans per day etc, and automatically texts me if in a fault status, and emailing i-tan. I know the booth is new to market, but my god it's well engineered.

I asked the girl at reception how long they've had the booth, just 3 weeks... ahhh. However, they've sprayed over 80 clients and not had a single complaint about the tan quality and loved the experience. The booth replaced a Mystic that simply wasn't beding used - sorry, but that speaks volumes to me.

I've not quite made my decision yet as I'm asking a number of my staff to also get sprayed in the booth next week, including the 3 from this week. I will listen what they say but I think my mind is made up as I've also heard that the place I got sprayed, have just ordered 6 more for other sites with another 23 to 45 booths in the pipeline. They will also be selling the booth too. Again, speaks volumes to me and the nice thing was when I spoke to i-tan, they were not ramming it down my throat, just simply answered all the questions I asked. Yeh, it feels right.

Honestly, the only thing I can say is go to their website, read about it, watch the videos and everything you read and see is exactly what I saw yesterday. Nothing else I can really add. On that note, off to bed and will pop on here again next week if I've got anything else to blag about.

Maybe lol. End of the day, it's my money, my risk etc. and the last thing I want is a wasted investment. Still plenty to think about. Staff are booked in for Tuesday so will see how they get on. I'm thinking buy 1, test it out for a month or 2, then make a final decision. I asked for a free trial, but I'm not big enough :(

Re: Which Auto Spray Tan Booth ??? - UK

Hi HogInSloth,

Not going to deceive anyone by saying I'm a salon owner. My names Kevin, I'm the engineer for My Beauty Group the Suppliers of the Sunless Inc products VersaPRO, VersaSpa, Evolv(heated manual in Harrods) and My Beauty Group Aesthetics.

I noticed you haven't looked at the New VersaPRO, have you seen the specs? It a category of it own. I'm not here to brag how great the VersaPRO is but I just like to help people make the right choice.

We have over 100+ VersaSpas out in the UK which I am not afraid to release out our customer contacts to as we have plenty of great feedback. Also our booths have been taken on by the main chain salon, unlike other booths out on the market.

There will probably be a lot of 2nd hand VersaSpas out on the market soon as most of our customers want to upgrade to the PRO.

The reliability of the booths are probably the best, I'm the only Main engineer and look after all our booths and aesthetics equipment which I wont lie i'm sat in the office most of the time looking at post to comment on.

Anyways if you haven't made you choice for the other salons please contact us and I will assist you as much as i can including giving you our customer details.

Best regards
Kevin Lui
