Extraction Fan

I just bought the Solomist system. Super excited about getting it! My question is... does anyone know where I can purchase an extraction fan or if I even need one? I purchased a spray tent because I will be doing my business as a mobile business.

Re: Extraction Fan

i spray mobile also and i dont have an extraction fan. Honestly after reading ALOT unless you are spraying 3 or more clients ALL the time then its not worth it. They are REALLY pricey to me.. couple hundred bucks. i wouldnt worry about it yet!

If you are tanning in clients homes then you will need one so you dont get overspray all over there stuff! I first purchased a $50 one and still use it but I have also added a second fan in my studio. I bought a box fan and attached an ac filter with velcro. But my filter does not have that tacky cardboard edge so it looks nice. I did try using my tent without a filter in my own home a few times to see how much mess it makes. I used a diaper wipe and started wiping the floors, tables and walls just to see. The wipe was totally brown! use a fan!

Re: Extraction Fan

Did the box fan work the same as an extraction fan would?

the extraction fan that I purchased for $50 was just a box fan with a filter built inside. No difference at all. They actually have the same power. The only difference is you cant see the filter on the expensive one.

Re: Extraction Fan

I will probably do the same as you then. Clients won't see it because its going to be behind the tent anyways... Thanks for posting!

Re: Extraction Fan

Norvell & Cal Tan both sell an Floor Fan with Filter. I think it's about $60 salon cost.

It is a basic floor fan with a slot for a filter to slide into. Better to have an extraction fan of any type than none at all.

Re: Extraction Fan

i would like to piggy back on this question and any advice is very helpful. I plan to use a tent but i do not have a duct system or window in my place. Will just having lets say a floor extraction fan work?

Re: Extraction Fan

Envy Tan carries extraction fans for about $50 I think. I've had mine for quite awhile & really wouldn't tan without it b/c I do not want overspray in my clients homes.

Re: Extraction Fan

I don't have an extraction fan either. I haven't been doing this very long and I was woundering do they really work? I keep throwing it around to buy one but you know how some places just upsell things that are not nessessery to have.
