Rep Power: 0 | Re: MaxiMist Review Hi there, I am new to the business and found this website extremely helpful in starting up my mobile tan business, I thought I would add my limited start up exerience for what it is worth. I purchased the Maximist Pro package from tampa bay tans ($501). In addition to the unit and pro-gun, it came with a brown tent (which is nice for hiding the color but not for dark space it provides for spray tanning); sample Tanenvy solutions which I have not used so far; regular plastic HPLV gun (which I plan to use as a backup) and several additional cannisters with lids for both the pro and regular gun (the cannisters are not interchangable with the guns). Generally, I like the Maximist and am happy with my purchase, it is a good starter unit and excellent for travel. Sound. Volume is just below a hair dryer. You can speak over it, and hear your clients, but I give my instructions first. It is a little louder than I would have preferred, but it should not be a hinderence to purchasing the unit. Weight. The unit is light and transports easily which is great for mobile techs. Spray. I like the spray capacity of the pro-gun, it makes for even application. Hose. My only complaint is with the hose attachment -- the hose feels cheap and thin and I am scared that I will accidently step on it and crack the plastic. In a perfect world, the hose should be designed so that it spaps in place into the gun. I use the hose for drying areas while tanning to prevent lines -- but if not put in place very tightly, the hose can come off mid-tan (this happened a few times) which can result in a stream of solution in the area you are tanning. Tampa Bay Tan -- I ordered from Tampa Bay Tan and the order arrived in less than a week with regular shipping. I called when I was having trouble with the gun and customer service rep was helpful. I would recommend this seller based on this experience. Solutions -- I am still experimenting with different brands to find the perfect fit. So far, I like Pure Sunless and Novell, but am far from ending my quest for the perfect solution. I am keeping a log to jot down my thoughts on each brand. I hope this is helpful, I was grateful for the advice got from this site. |

I really dislike that the hose isnt secured by anything and I have had it pop off a time or too (never had a solution pooling problem when it happened though). I like that it comes with 2 guns which I think is so important since if something happens to one and you are with a client you can quickly switch out. The cups for the 2 guns are not interchangeable however, which is really no biggie. I use the non-pro gun more, even though I love the look of the pro gun. This is because I have lower back pain and the pro gun is very well made, but on the heavier side. I do 2 coats on every client and have felt some achiness in my back doing a couple in one day. I find this not to be true with the light-weight (plastic) non-pro gun. I purchased mine from Tampa Bay Tan also and it was super fast shipping, great customer service, and they sent free samples of their own solutions (I have not tried them). I highly recommend them. I loved looking up reviews on this site so I hope some of this information is helpful. I currently use Sjolie and am really happy with it! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: MaxiMist Review I recently purchaced the Maximist pro, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to put the pro-gun when you need to set it down for a second. The regular plastic gun will fit into the top of the machine, however the pro is kind of akward, and Im not sure if it is ok to just lay it down if I need to.....any suggestions would be awesome..... Thanks ;) |

I have a maximist pro also. Do you find that it is extremely cold when you spray clients. I am new to this and was wondering if this was normal. I have tried to warm up the solution and it does not help. How do you handle this?! I feel like my clients wont come back if it is pure torture! HELP | |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: MaxiMist Review Yes the solution is cold when I spray people but it's no colder then it would be with any other machine. It is somewhat "torturous" on some clients but I feel after about the first 30 seconds, they adjust and are alright. I just assure my clients that I will move quickly (but still accuratly) and dry them with the warm hose air. Be sure not to leave your solution in your car if it's cold out. Trust me, after they see their beautiful tan they will come back, cold or not.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: MaxiMist Review I was just reading what everyone had to say about the MaxiMist. I bought it for xmas to start up doing my own spray tans. I did it for a few reasons, I wanted another job but don't have that much extra time for another job so I thought this would be a great way to make extra cash and I was tired of spending so much money to a salon to be spay tanned. So I bought the improved MaxiMist From Tampa Bay Tan. The improved one came with a better hose. Its not the plastic one there is a coating on this one so its not as fragile. It also came with two extra cups, sample solutions and extra parts for the gun. I really like the solution's they left great color.I have used it a few times and I love it. I just have one problem. I noticed the other day when I used it for awhile the hose popped off. Is there anything you can do to keep it on? Other then that I feel if you take care of the machine and clean it all the time you should be able to use it for awhile. I would definitely recommend this machine. |
