Rep Power: 0 | Re: Spray Tan Room Layout Ideas I have a tiny spray tan room. 6 x 8. It's a VersaSpa install and being the worlds smallest VersaSpa room it was the mother of all installs as the good people at VersaSpa assume you can get access to the sides of the unit when building it. With 1in of space on either side, I was required to break my arms in two places to build the thing. The distributor was also required to do the same, except I broke his legs as well when he realised after 8 hours of blood, sweat and tears that he'd forgotten to install a part that mean the whole thing needed to be disassembled again! Anyway enough of that, onto the pictures. Being a tiny room it is almost impossible to photograph since the camera can't zoom out enough to fit the whole thing in. But there is plenty of room (believe it or not) to get comfortably changed in. I went for an upmarket look to the room and the wallpaper you see in the pictures was imported from France specially for the room. It's a washable vinyl and looks imho stunning. Same goes for the wash basin, tap and mirror (which I picked up for nothing of our equivalent of ebay (I'm in New Zealand). Probably spend around 2k on the room and it needed a lot of work, there was an open partition at the top of one wall (long story) and a load of plumbing work to relocate the water supply from one corner to another. Everyone who has walked into the room has gone WOW. So sometimes less can be more. At the end of the day every square foot has to pay for itself and the more revenue you can squeeze out of every square foot (while retaining the look and feel you're after) the better off you're going to be. My Ergoline vertical sunbed room with similar dimensions got similar treatment and while a little more understated is still a comfortable place to be in. Going small means you can go expensive on the walls since you're covering a smaller area. Wallpaper is back in vogue. If the room had of been bigger I might of gone with this pattern. The company for anyone interested is Elitis As far as the VersaSpa goes it's amazing how well the extraction system works. I can stand right next to it (no doors) run it through a cycle and somehow not a drop touches me. No need for active external ventilation since its build in filter takes care of everything. With the tanning industry imploding at the moment, private spray tanning is the way forward. At the end of the day the majority of people would prefer to get a tan in private vs. having someone apply a tan. Yes the entry cost is a lot higher but the new generation of equipment is so good that to stick your head in the sand while the competition take your market share is a recipe for disaster. hmm seem to have drifted off topic a touch, sorry about that. |

Rep Power: 35 | Re: Spray Tan Room Layout Ideas I love the look. I especially like the red it reminds me of sunshine (bright and cheery). I have to disagree with you about people wanting privacy. I have lost count of how many clients have told me how much better it is to get a customized hand done spraytan compared to a booth. Booths do not have eyes for checking skin tones, texture, etc. as you spray.

The majority of booths out there are older models and cannot be compared to the latest offerings. I'm not suggesting they are superior to hand spraying. But one thing they are compared to a hand spray is consistent, while you may be a great operator there are plenty of horror stories out there of operators who don't really know what they're doing. You should never made a business decision based on your own personal preferences, rather you must look at the market as a whole. I don't do group fitness myself, but I still offer it because it's extremely popular with a large segment of the market. Each market is different of course, I lived in Holland for a few years, go to the beach during summer and the majority of woman are topless, I doubt a hand spray tan would bother them. Here in New Zealand and I guess the majority of the US, attitudes are more conservative and a much smaller percentage would feel comfortable disrobing in front of a stranger. My guess is the VersaSpa will be far more popular than if the room had been set up for manual spray tans. And although the entry cost is far higher the on-going costs are much lower (no additional staff). | |

Rep Power: 35 | Re: Spray Tan Room Layout Ideas ^ who said you had to be topless for a hand spray? I have 5 different styles of tops our clients can choose from. You are correct I did not make my decision on my own personal preference, however I did take into consideration all situations I may run into. TTT
