Orbit 44/4 overheating

I have a Orbit 44/4 ( Yes I know old unit ) Just went to change the lamps yesterday and a new ones would light in the canopy. Pulled the lamps out and didn't notice the pieces the lamps plug into on those lamps were missing the inner plastic circle (that goes between the bi-pin) and were a little melted. Other lamps in the canopy were extremely hot near the ends after only about ten second of being on. I found new plug at tanparts.com but I am worried this may be a voltage problem. How do you fix something like this? Thanks in advance

If it was a voltage problem, you would have known it a long time ago. Might be a internal fan issue. Check to make sure that all fans work internally or you will melt more parts.

Re: Orbit 44/4 overheating

Check the airflow. Make sure the front vent in the kick plate is clean. Also make sure the white plastic vents in the back of the unit are connected properly and not broken.

What lamps are you running in the bench?

Re: Orbit 44/4 overheating

I have AUVL lamps in it. I believe its 140W in the canopy and 160W in the bench. The reason I was thinking it wasn't an issue with the fans is that it is only certain lamps that are really hot and it is only on the ends of the lamps.
