Slide hook that supports canopy issues on my Sungate V1, any help?

Another **** issue on this Sungate! Great bed but a fussy *****.

Anyways, the Slide hook that support the canopy is pushing out at the top causing it to completely come off the knob after just a few uses. It pops the E-clips (washers) right off. I checked the endcap, no sign of cracks. Knobs show no remarkable wear. Future Industries not much help with this one, hopefully one of you guys have heard of this issue, or have a better fix to what seems like a design flaw. Could it be the springs are just not tight enough (seem pretty darn tight though)? Any help is totally appreciated and as always I will be always available to return the favor in anyway I can. Thank you

Yes tighten the springs also make sure the dampers are installed. There's 1 next to each spring.
Good luck

Take the canopy off the bed and inspect the sup[ort pins for wear. If there is grooves cut in them then there is wear and the canopy is sagging and this causes misalignment. There should be bushings in there but they either wore out or were not installed when the bed was.

If the top is staying up then the springs are tight enough and tightening the springs will not solve the problem. The dampers have nothing to do with that either, they just slow the top movement.

If there are grooves worn in the main support pins you will need to fill in the grooves with weld or brazing and file smooth and re install the canopy.

How does the aluminum cross piece that the bench acrylic slide into look? Are there groves cut into it at either end? This is a good indication of what Brian is eluding to above.

The slide hook has nothing to do with the pins that the canopy sits on. Just tighten the springs to prevent slide hook from coming off. . No need to remove the canopy just look for wear on the acrylic aluminum cross piece like robert suggested if its worn out then your canopy bushing is missing or worn out, but that has nothing to do with the slide hook. If the dampers start to unscrew it can cause an issue too.

I've seen canopy pins worn down to about only 25% metal left and the slide hook does not have an issue.

great advices fellas. Replaced bushings (had to get them custom made and grind the aluminum endcaps a bit to get a good fit), tightened springs a bit, and changed out washers and e-clip with new washers and retaining clips. So far so good, thanks alot

It has everything to do with it because when the pins wear, the canopy sags and lowers but the hooks stay where they are and the tolerance widens. Geometry changes.

Dampers unscrewing have nothong to do with it either. They just slow the top down.
