Tanning Bed shock

I have recently purchased a used tanning bed from a local tanning salon. I placed the bed in my garage (concrete floor). While laying in the bed tanning, a couple of times I have felt a tingle sensation similar to a very light shock. This only happens when I touch the side of the bed with my hand/arm. There are a couple of places along the edge of the metal part where the paint is chipped. I'm not sure if the bare metal is causing the shock, or could it be something else? If it's the bare metal, what type paint do I use to cover it up?

Thanks!

Well if you are getting a shock something is not right. Covering the metal with paint wont help. Really would be a good idea to find out why its not grounding right.

At the very least, ground the frame.

I have two beds that do that tingle thing. They are older beds and all metal with white paint. I will tell you that the only way it will stop is if you repaint the bed. I called the place where I got the bed and talked to two electricians. They said because of the metal when you are laying and moving around on the acrylic you have a build up of static electricity and if you touch a naked place on the bed it will tingle. I was worried that it was the bed shorting out but I had two electricians look at the bed and nothing was touching and it was grounded fine. I since have completely repainted the thing and its doing great now.

Forget all that. Try dusting it first.
