Cooling Fans

Got a Star Power 52 4F one cooling fan appears not to be working, was told coolong fans in canopy are supposed to blow in, the fan that appears to be working is blowing out of canopy, as are all my other beds. Any idea which it should be? In....or Out?

Re: Cooling Fans

Here's my understanding of most beds: canopy fans blow out, whereby they are "sucking air from inside the ballast/lamp compartment" which exhausts the hot air being produced and draws cooler air from the ends of the canopy through the compartment. Facial fans on the other hand suck cooler air from the room and blow directly onto the much hotter facial lamp cartridges. Hope this helps. Good luck with that. -Z

Re: Cooling Fans

Thanks Belvy...appreciate the help...that was also my understanding but was told otherwise and wanted to check and make sure.

Re: Cooling Fans

Seems to me you wanna exhaust the hot air. I have one bed that has a seperate fan for the facial unit, which sucks air in over the facial lamp area, but then the regular fans exhaust.

Re: Cooling Fans

It was an ETS tech that told me otherwise yes. This particular bed does not have vents in ends of canopys to draw air in, they are also on back side of it but would presume it would work the same way. Can't imagine I would want to blow air into the canopy, when ballasts are all in pullout tray under the unit anyways.

Re: Cooling Fans

The canopy pulls the air out of the canopy. Which tech told you this?
