Help! Tan peeling off!

I honestly do not know much about tanning, but my tan is peeling off and I'm getting patches of lighter skin all over me..pretty stupid lookin! The reason I tan is because it clears up my acne on my back, so I don't have to get on acne medication. I have been going once or twice a week. I'm not real worried about being tan, just having clear healthy looking skin. I do not use any lotion before, because honestly I don't have a clue what to get and the place I go acts like car salesmen with lotion. The lotion they sell is also very expensive. After I tan I use Jergens natural glow revitalizing lotion. The only reason I picked it is because my X GF tanned constantly and used it, so I figured it was good. I use a bed with UVA/UVB lamps for usually 10 mins.. I usually get a little red, but I always get red after I tan even after being at the pool all summer. I also think I should mention I have to shower sometimes 3 times/ day, because I train twice a day and cant walk around stinking. If somebody could give me some advice on what I should do or products to use to make sure this stops I would appreciate it!!

Re: Help! Tan peeling off!

you need a quality tanning lotion before you tan to moisturize and prep your skin for tanning. you need a quality after tan moisturizer to use EVERY time after you shower. the lotion you are using has mineral oil in it which is a natural exfoliant and tanning dry and showering so much is drying you out BAD. your skin sloughs naturally every 28-30 days, but when you tan it can bump up to 7-14 days and with you showering so much I would even guess quicker. if you are unsure about buying lotion at your salon because they are pushy and only have expensive products, then maybe visit another salon in your area and see if they offer something more in your price range. tanning without lotion is like washing your hair and never using conditioner or brushing your teeth without toothpaste. Good luck-hope this helps!!!

first off, stop showering 3 times a day. That's too much. Second, THROW OUT THE JERGENS. It's HORRIBLE and is known for leaving you look dirty and if you are showing that much the self tanner will be spotty at best.

If you are prone to body acne the less products you put on your skin the better.
