Would a normal UV bulb clear up my acne? (If the Tanning bed does)
 

The sunbed really clears up my acne. Although after a couple of days it goes bad again.
So i'm just wondering, would a normal UV bulb in a lamp work?

e.g. if I buy this -

and put it in my lamp, shine the light on my acne (wear sunbed goggles) would it work? would it clear up my acne the same?

It is UV after all.

That is a "Black Light" bulb, not a UV lamp.

They do make UV light boxes for people that suffer from S.A.D, you could try that.

I have seen them, but they cost hundreds. Which I can't afford. :(

Which I can't afford. Just wondering if this would work. And I think I have the wrong image aswell. But I mean a UV bulb which would fit into any normal desk lamp, which I can just shine on my face and will clear my acne.

It's a combo of the heat/drying/UV which is why the tanning bed works so well. Even if that lamp existed it wouldn't be tuned for tanning. It would just be something outputing some uncontroled amount of UV which is useless.

ALL Black lights emit UVA. The phosphor in a black light absorbs most visible light and emits only UVA and some blue and violet visible light. Standard light bulbs absorb UV light and only emit visible light.

UVB actually destroys the bacteria that causes acne. Most people believe that their acne is being treated with tanning by "drying" the skin. While the skin does dry to some degree in a tanning bed (especially when no moisturizer is being used), UVB is actually destroying acne vulgaris bacteria which is why your skin clears up.

However, since UVB and UVC are blocked by the phosphor in that black light, it will be useless to treat your acne.

The best part is the results are pretty quick with UV. Not so with other forms of light claiming to help.

Have you ever tried red or infrared light therapy? Our photo rejuvenation bed work wonders for acne. I've seen very severe cases clear up in 2 weeks. It takes much longer for the scars to "soften", but the redness, inflammation, and pain are dramatically reduced very quickly.

BUT, for nearly instant gratification, tanning works the best. Mild cases of acne can clear up in only a couple sessions.

Also, the light therapy I mentioned above causes the skin to actually "correct, heal, and PREVENT" many skin conditions as opposed to just treating them with tanning.

Ok NOW we are slinging the hosshit! I thought you were against this nonsense of "bashing one to promote another"!?!?!

Yeah, and spray tanning is the "safe alternative". Both of these safer alternatives have this one problem...THEY DO NOTHING. You have to BELIEVE they are working as well as straight up tanning.

With tanning, it just works....real fast...one shot. Not IN A FEW WEEKS YOU'LL NOTICE YOUR WALLET GETTING THINNER, TIGHTER....

They do make UVB bulbs like that, pet stores sell them for about 10-20 bucks a crack, I know this because we could not get a dog like most people we needed 2 tortoises. But what levels and what else it produces???? But the "desert turtles" need the uvb for Vit D production and to keep them healthy and warm, oh yeah they live for 150 years and get to the size of a normal lawn mower, yeah.
