Dry skin/to much lotion?

trying to decide why my skin doesnt tan as well anymore. I use to tan so well..now i get reddish tint. I put lotion on everyday after a shower? Coudl this be to much? I also might experience dry skin, could this cause the tan to be reddish? Let me know what can cause skin to not tan so well. To much lotion or dry skin? Thanks

Re: Dry skin/to much lotion?

i use hempz lotion. I dont use mineral oil. I just didnt know if to much lotion is bad. What lotion would be good for dry skin that will allow me to tan very well. I have dry eyes, dry skin, etc.. Think its due to hormones. I use to tan great but would dry skin cause me not to tan so well??

Hempz original moisturizer is good. I use the same one and i hold a tan for a long time.

If you are getting red and dry skin, other than the fact it's winter and it's the season, everyone gets dry skin.....is that your tanning lotion you use to tan is not hydrating. What do you use when you tan?

Hempz is a good lotion. You should be using it twice daily. My customers and I love DS Angel and Undercover Angel. They are very good moisturizers.

Btw, are you on any medications right now that may be causing photosensitivity?

Re: Dry skin/to much lotion?

And yes, dry skin does not tan as well as as hydrated skin.
(Not sure why I put all my responses in three seperate posts - Sorry!)

Re: Dry skin/to much lotion?

Is your tanning lotion full of alcohol? What are the first two ingredients on the label? I am guessing it is a combo of water and alcohol. If so switch to ones that are first and foremost Aloe Vera or Cocoa Butter. The first 2 ingredients are what is mainly in a bottle and alcohol is very drying. I am always surprised that the so called "quality" lotions are filled with primarily alcohol and water. OC and Tanology are great Aloe Based lotions.

Re: Dry skin/to much lotion?

Also , if there is a lot of fragrance in the lotion it prolly has alot of volitiles in it as well, very drying to the skin.
