Rep Power: 0 | Red non-raised itchy prickly spots I recientlt started tanning. This is about my second week. I am fairly fair skinned. I tan for 8 minutes 4xs a week. Recently, like the past 2-3 sessions, about 2-3 minutes in to the session, my legs start to feel very prickly and itchy. It gets to the point when I have to get out of the bed early because it hurts so bad. The last time (today) i noticed that there were tiny pin prick sized red spots (not raised) all over my legs. And not to mention they itch like crazy. They itch so bad that it wakes me up out of a dead sleep in the middle of the night. I have put aloe lotion on when i get home every time after tanning, but it seems to only help for a few minutes. I have even bought some hydrocortisone cream. Nothing is helping. I am new to the tanning world and I need some help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Side note: I have looked at some of the other postings and it sounds like it may be heat rash but there is no raised bumps. Even after i get home the prickling still continues and i am itchy from head to toe. There is nothing on my hands or feet but i am itchy all over! HELP!!!!!! |

I would suggest taking a couple of days off and then going back to every other day. However, I am still curious about your lotions and level of bed. |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Red non-raised itchy prickly spots I would suggest speaking with someone at the salon about purchasing a tanning lotion and moisturizer for home use. dry skin does not tan as well a moisturized skin and you will see way better results from each tanning session. stay away from products with mineral oil (store bought) as they will damage the acrylics in the tanning bed and also do your skin more harm that good, especially while tanning. maybe start using the lotion before tanning and cut back to six minutes for a few visits and work back up. GOOD LUCK!!! |

Do not use any lotions, get aveeno oatmeal bath and soak. Then dot with aloe gel. If you still itch take some bendryl and do not get back in that tanning bed till you are 100% healed. google contact dermatitis pictures Last edited by jellybelly; 04-05-2009 at 12:53 AM.
