Yes. BUT if it's flakey it's on it's last legs. When it's active it has a raised feel and can get itchy. Your skin won't start to look normal until you start tanning or you completely fade to pale. The doctor said it wasn't active so I can only ASSume that it's on it's last legs.

since i last posted i have really been using the nizoral shampoo everyday just a couple times a week. i noticed a spot getting a bit flaky and is white so i started to use the shampoo again???
it really gets me, how do you know when u have it??/ i might just be paranoid. i am going to tahiti on saturday, should i wash every day with it while i am over there? nizoral shampoo is so expensive and you dont get much for the price.

just keep using it. Flaky is good. That's the end of the road for that spot. Don't just wash with it, let it sit for 5-20min on your skin and then wash it off. No pain no gain.

Hey engfant,

i am back again! i just got back from tahiti and the skin did tan over, it has blended in quite well.

i have come back and that spot i was telling u about before, is really really flaky so i started to use the nizoral cream on that spot.
i dont know if i have tinea or not. i did wash with the shampoo while i was over there so i didnt get a re-occurance but the rest of my body is ok its just that **** small spot. if it is active i dont want it to spead. so i started to use the cream again. is that good?

forget the cream. I don't have experience with the cream BUT if it has the same active ingredient then it's fine. I'd still do full body washes with the shampoo 1-2 times a week especially now that we are going into the summer. I was starting to see a little but it stopped cause it's been so lousy cold out. That'll change real shortly I'm sure.

Well the cream i am using is the nizoral 2%. i have been putting it on the two spots. and they have a raised feel ever since i started to use the cream. so i am gathering that i have tinea again in those two spots...plus they are really flakey and they started to get bigger, wierd once u treat it gets bigger?

the rest of my skin is dry but that is probaley because i was in the sun in Tahiti so i have been putting coca butteron My previous spots are tanned but still not the same colour as the rest of the skin.

how do u know when its gone? when the flakeniess going away??

Its winter here i am really lucky...how are you going with your tv?

Go to your dermatologist and ask him to prescribe you a Niazoral pill. One pill sends tinea versicolor packing for the entire year. No shampoo needed. Good luck.

I just washed with the nizoral shampoo left it on for a while.

all of sudden its like my tan faded and i have spots again...not white though but still. its like i have gone back to what i started it..

i go to dermo and they say i dont have it so they dont give me a pill

can the shampoo bring out the white spots aggain?

its all dry i just put cocua butter.

the white spotss i told u about are now red and irrated maybe from the cream? should i see the derm again

Did you only have two spots?

You are probably over doing it a bit.
The derm can give you some lamasil tablets (or others) to take but it also comes w/ the risk of liver damage if not taken correctly and or too long.
Take the selsun blue or the nizoral shampoo at night and put it on your back, arms, chest where it is.
Put on an old t-shirt and sit for a while or wear it to bed if you have taken a shower already.
If you can't reach it have someone put it on for you. Do this for a few days to a week depending on how bad it is and it will go away.
If your skin is peeling it is probably from the cream not the shampoo. You may want to give it a day or so of rest then try the shampoo trick.
Trust me the shampoo is harmless will not hurt you or turn you blue.
My son did this when I told him I was not giving the derm anymore money and he had it from his neck, back, arms and was goin to his face.
I would also try emu oil vs cocoa butter for the dryness. The emu oil has much better qualities to it than the cocoa butter.
Some of the directions may not quit pertain to you depending on where spots are located and how bad it has gotten.
