Re: Now, my question

I must confess that I'm using 3-year-old drugstore lotion. It's called Eurotan Optimizer Cobalt. It has Tyrosine in it . . . is that good/bad/useless? When I bought it I really didn't want to spend a lot of money on lotion. I still feel that way. If you can suggest a good lotion that's relatively inexpensive, (or point me to a thread about it) that would be great. A firming lotion would be awesome since I'm covered with stretch marks and cellulite (sob).

Re: Now, my question

Remember, you want what's BEST for the largest organ on your body. NOT the cheapest. That's like eating a salad for health but it's from McDONALDS.

But if cost is an issue just STAY AWAY FROM DRUGSTORE TRASH. Simple Australian Gold accelerator is usually found under $20 at most places or an equivelent. ANY SALON PRODUCT will work better than Eurotan. That's mostly filler.

Re: Now, my question

Under $20 is a good price? Eep! I was thinking more along the lines of under $10 . . . . *sigh* :)

I'll probably only be able to get to the salon twice a week. Will that be often enough to build up a tan?

Thanks SO much for the replies, everyone. I've been meaning to start tanning for about a month now, but kept putting it off because I was so confused about how best to do it.

Re: Now, my question

$10? This is your skin woman! Biggest and most important organ in your body. What the christ is $10 going to get ya????

You'd be better off getting a sample of something good everytime than "investing" in trash.

Re: Now, my question

Go BACK to the salon you are referring to.... start over with 5 min and go up by 1 with each session... To get a base time you are better off to go more often and less time, than to shock your body and burn it. $20 is about as cheap as I'd go.... This is an easy fix....
The loudest protesters on limited time is the III skin type.... My rule of thumb no more than
6 min.... for everyone that has not beed tanning regardless of the bed type... First tan should be BOGO... that way the customer does it my way the first time and adjust accordingly after that... No HUGE deal just go back next week drop to 5 and go.....

Re: Now, my question

Better yet.... this $10 thing is bugging me.....
Go get a big piece of cardboard wrap it in tin foil.... lube up with baby oil..... and go for it.... get yourself an aloe burn gel also... YOU CAN DO ALL OF THIS FOR $10 OR LESS!!!!!

Re: Now, my question

I agree with you all that the pricier lotions probably work better. I will probably get one at the salon, so don't panic! ;) I was just saying that I was hoping to spend less than $10, that's all.

I don't want to go back to the same salon because with newborn twins in the house, I don't get out much . . . . the other salon is right next to the grocery store I shop at. Convenience is a must for me.

One of you is telling me to start at 7 and one is saying I should start at 5. What's a newbie to do?? Plus, if I go to the 20-min. bed the amounts of time will be different anyway. I figured I'd start a 8 min on that one because when I started from completely pale in the past, 8 min on a 20-min bed was perfect.

Re: Now, my question

In my other thread we were talking about the purported risks of tanning. I was wondering what you say to people who claim that exposure to UVB radiation causes premature aging, e.g., wrinkles and age spots? I'm not making this claim . . . I've just heard it.

If you are afraid of getting wrinkles don't smile much throughout your lifetime (I've had a very happy life I'm expecting a lot of character lines to go with it LOL) If you're afraid of getting brown spots don't ever go on birth control pills along with sun exposure and other hormonal changes that cause them. If you don't want premature aging of your skin then eat a good diet with lots of resveritol, antioxidants, goji berries, blueberries etc. also add turmeric, tumeric, curcumin, curry (indian spice) to your daily diet. drink a single cup of coffee a day and exercise. get a good nights sleep (i am terrible with this!)
Wait at least 24 hrs. before you tan to give your skin time to hydrate. If your skin gets to dry try using organic coconut lotion by Fiji. For your stretch marks you might want to ask your salon to also order you tanzotic tanning lotion.

Are you committed to take control of your own health? It's a commitment you make with yourself.

I would recommend trying Tanology's Spa Line lotion "Pure Hydration" for about $14 a bottle if you want a good quality lotion at an inexpensive price.

Re: Now, my question

Um, you're a skin type III with no tan? Who told you you were a skin type III? Here, I know, answer the question: I prefer, A. Brussels Sprouts or B. Greens
