Cool Is it true...?

I have really pale skin, and I recently decided to start tanning. But today I read online that there is a percentage of the population (5%?) that just CAN'T tan, that it is not possible. Is this true/could this be my case? I don't want to be wasting money.

Re: Is it true...?

If you can tan when in the sun you can tan in a tanning bed.

Re: Is it true...?

It would be hard to believe that you have never been in the sun long enough to notice if you tan or not. My son was 2 years old and I could tell he was tanning even if I had the best cream on him when we were at the beach.

Re: Is it true...?

Yeah i guess your right, I just haven't spend a lot of time in the sun or spend a lot of time in the sun trying to get a tan. I just know I don't tan EASILY.

Thanks.

Re: Is it true...?

i think if you even have to ask the question, you probably don't have the kind of skin that should be tanning with uv and it is probably safer for you to use a self tanner. My wife is very fair and she wont do anything but sunless, especially after having some moles removed.

I disagree on this one. People forget that I used to be pale it's been so long since I wanted the porcelain doll look. The only reason I was so pale was one because I was to busy to lay outside and two I was fearful of going into a tanning salon because of all the negative media. It wasn't until after I started doing my own research that I figured out what I had been missing all these years.....yes the health benefits of a tanning bed. I could post a before picture to show how pale I used to be. My son is the same way... it takes him an entire month of tanning to get tan.... but like me it only takes one tan a week yr. round to keep it.

Re: Is it true...?

My kids are very fair, almost skim milk pale. I started them (outdoor tanning) early in the spring. If they were playing outside, I had them take their shirts off for a half hour a day (young boys, 5 and 10), they built a base tan and haven't had one sunburn this summer. This was the first I had ever done anything like that. I figured moderation for them as well once I started searching and learning mor about the industry I was getting into. I have never seen my boys so tan, they were Elmer's Glue white for years. The key is moderation, that is for sure!
My point for this story is take it slow and allow your body to tan slowly, don't burn.
