Rep Power: 0 | Hi, i'm a guy I don't really know much about beauty products so that why i'm here.. I'm curently a french student of the age of 17, and I really don't like the way I look. I'm really pale, I burn easy, and I have no idea how to get tanned. People always put me down, girls and guys call me ugly. I just really have low self esteem. I was hoping people could give me some tanning advice or something, everything seems so hopeless right now. I also got some pretty bad acne, the doctor gave me something it seemed to work fine, but it seems like it stopped working... Anyways thank for reading this guys i'm hoping for a reply. I really want to look good for prom. I also have dark circles around my eyes, is there anything I can do for that..... |

As for the acne, well - there are many OTC products that may help you. Bottom line, this too shall pass mon amis. Bon Jour - Bon Voyage - Bon Appetit - have a terrific time at prom and name it after your uncle Belvy. -Belvy

When I was your age I too had bad skin & I know how it affects your self esteem. I'm glad you've seen a dermatologist, thats an important step. Tanning *has* helped my skin stay clear as an adult but many prescription acne medications make your skin photosensitive and will greatly increase your chances of burning rather than bronzing. Without knowing which medication you use, in what strength, it would be irresponsible of anyone here to suggest a UV tanning regimen for you. Until then you may want to try using a gradual self tanner (the color is more natural) on a weekend or school holiday to see if that suits your purposes. Many people who use tanning beds also choose to use the gradual self tanners/bronzers on their faces to even out their skin tone and camoflauge their "raccoon eyes". Other helpful non-medication things you can do to help limit acne outbreaks is to keep your hair off your face (the oils from your hair touching your skin can cause breakouts) and change your pillowcase regularly so you don't put your washed face down onto fabric covered with skin oil & bacteria for 6-8 hours a night. I would also suggest that you visit www.iamtan.com, a site created for tanners. The members there are both girls & guys and very friendly and helpful. I'm sure you'll get great advice if you post your questions there. Also please feel free to PM me if you'd like more detailed suggestions or advice or anything. This too shall pass, I promise. I wish you the best of luck & a wonderful prom. :) |

You'd be surprised how well it works. Also, I'd try the tanning 2 times a week, real light exposure times. I can almost bet that the tanning will help out your skin better than ANYTHING a dermatologist will give ya. They only know how to dry out the skin which is exactly what you DON'T want to do. This is why they only work for a short period of time. Your face will eventually catch up to the medication and your face will always have this shinny glazed look. It's your skin begging for mercy. |
