Question Steroids and skin care.......

Hi there everyone, hope all is well with you.

This is my first post so Im not whether I will get grilled for posting such a topic up but just wanted to get some advice really.

My name is J, 22 years old student at uni and in London.

Ive used steroids in the past and got acne on the chest, shoulders and back.

At the moment, I am using a body scrub containing tea tree oil and using a back scrubber as well. I am also using the tanning bed at the gym 3 times a week at 15 mins session. Im using that because its the free one I use, I assume it will be of a lowered power one compared to the pay ones. Im also thinking of using a tan accelerator but not sure which to use.

I still have a few blemishes left over and just wanted to know if there was anything extra I could do to get rid of them. I should be on accutane within a month hopefully, prescribed by the dermatologist as Im naturally acne prone, even before using steroids. Ive had acne on the face for a few years now.

My regime is, face mask once a week, exfoliate twice a week and use a daily face wash. My skin is of oily condition and use a moisturiser with no perfume or oil.

I have less spots than I did before but still have quite a few red blemishes on my face and body. I am oriental, Filipino to be exact and all of my friends are blemish and spot free. It doesnt get me down or anything or upset, just that, it would be nice to have a clear face as it has kind of lowered my confidence with the opposite sex a little.

If you can help me, advise anything else I could do, or even if you have used steroids, please could you help me?

If you want to remain anonymous, just pm or e-mail me please.

Again, I hope I havent broke any rules and if I have, I apologise and deleting this thread is the only action I expect.

Thanks for your time.

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

Why are you using steroids? Are they prescribed by a doctor?

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

Im using steroids because I simply want to be a **** of alot bigger and muscular. No they are not prescribed by a doctor.

My diet is very clean, so I know it doesnt contribute to my skin problems. I eat proper food, high protein, high in low glycemic carbs and also keep fat to a moderate level coming from mackarel, sardines and olive oil, plenty of green veg and fruit. I hardly get take aways and I never eat crisps, chocolate etc etc even though its a myth they cause acne. I just prefer to eat proper food.

I dont wish to discuss the use of steroids but wish to keep the topic on taking care of skin whilst using them. I hope you understand what I am trying to achieve from this post and would rather not go into details of the pros and cons of aas use.

Thank you people, Ive had a good look around and the people on here give very good advice, some of which I will incorporate into my skin regime.

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

you need to go http://www.anabolex.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7

the problem is nothing is going to help the acne while your still on the juice maybe control it a bit.

the best thing i know of is tetracyclene http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/tet1439.htm which ive used. also you are more sensitive to sunlight when you take this so no tanning or very very low sessions. also cut back on the steroid dosage.

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

Sounds like you already know the risks and negative impact of doing roids. Acne is just one of the smaller results. It's my understanding that typically, you can only reduce the severity of the outbreak while you're taking the course by doing what you are already doing. Adding another prescribed med without telling the doctor what else you're doing can be... dangerous. I understand what you're asking here. IMO, I don't think there's a solution to the problem, just band aids. Your body is simply responding to what your are giving it. When you stop, the acne will go away. There are bigger (no pun intended) issues you may have to deal with later and I hope you've already researched them. Keep on with the natural and healthy diet.

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

Wanna stop the skin problems ? Stop the roids.......plain and simple. You don't wanna talk about the roid usage ? hey, live with the bad skin. High test. will do it everytime. Wanna get a **** of alot bigger? work a **** of alot harder. not many short cuts out there you don't pay a price for. Keep juicing and skin problems will be the least of your worries.

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

My opinion as well, stop with the steroids. What do you prefer: good skin or big muscles? I don't know if I'm reading your post as it's meant, but I'm assuming that you want to look good to the opposite sexe by working out and taking steroids. Being a woman I know what I like better in a man: I would prefer nice skin to muscles no question about it!

Of course it's your own decision, but I'm a gym owner as well and I've seen so many problems with steroid using... Not from our gym, but people that get them at obscure places and then come to us for help when it goes wrong. And Clubtan is right: you may have to deal with much bigger problems than bad skin.

Good luck.

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

Lol, with roids, you have to train harder than you do whilst your natural my friend. I guess most of the responses Ive got is very anti-roid and the help I have been given isnt exactly the right response i was looking for from such a forum that provides great advice. I was just simply asking what the best skin care regime was whilst I was on, not how to stop it as obviously I know it plays around with my hormones.

Thanks at least to tan man and club tan for offered advice but again, not exactly was i was looking for.

Please keep this topic to what its asking for and not to make this a debate about the use of aas. Ive done my research so Im taking them ensuring that all the rights steps and procedures are taken to promote safe use and not abuse.

If anyone else has some suggestions please let me know. Thank you again for your time to respond.

Re: Steroids and skin care.......

Stone, among the large Filipino population in the USA, pimples and other forms of acne have become a status symbol. Much like nose and tongue piercings, all the cool Filipino kids now want pimples.

Instead of fighting your body and getting depressed, embrace your acne: show it off and say "In America, this zit-covered face would get me laid 3 times a day".

I guarantee you, by showing "acne confidence" YOU can be the FIRST to bring this latest trend to Great Britain.
