Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

If anyone is looking for a second Lumiere at a great cost I have a demo unit with less than 100 hrs. Make an offer!

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

I don't think this is the place to sell a lumiere.

Hey Ric,

You've been awfully quiet since the show. What's up?

Hey Ric,

What's the good word on lumiere?

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

I just noticed this thread. I am making tons of money with my Lumiere. Just over $695,030.01 for 2006.

TJ 01-22-2007 04:38 PM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Those are INCREDIBLE numbers ! ! ! ! Wher are you in Nebraska? I'll be going through Nebraska on my way to Colorado next week. I want to stop and chat with you about how you've promoted lumiere in your salon.

SO TJ must have something to do with lumiere!

All you have to do is read through these post to see what I have to do with lumiere.

Do you sell the lumiere units derf?

Mr Derf 01-23-2007 08:58 AM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Oh, I'm sorry I read it wrong. I made that money with Lemers, not Lumiere.

What is "LEMERS"? I need to get involved is this!!!!!!!!!

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Sadly, in regard to this thread, and tanning salons, he meant "lemmings".....the small rodents that follow each other off cliffs and die together....

"
lem·ming (lěm'ĭng) Pronunciation Key http://cache.lexico.com/g/d/speaker.gif http://cache.lexico.com/g/d/premium.gif
n. Any of various small, thickset rodents, especially of the genus Lemmus, inhabiting northern regions and known for periodic mass migrations that sometimes end in drowning.

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

I have lumiere in my salon....it is a tough sell only because of the fact that alot of people don't understand photolight therapy. Once I explain it, show them the before and afters and give them a free treatment.....they are a little more willing to try it. I am now doing buy one get on FREE sales just to wrap up the products and get it out. I also do laser so I just purchased handpieces for laser skin rejuvenation.....to me, that works better than lumiere!!

TJ 01-31-2007 01:02 PM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

So.........tell all of us Glowtanningctr

1-How long you have had the machine
2-How much money you spent marketing it in that time period
3-How much profit you've made after all expenses and payments
4-How many people you have on a Maitenance Program
5-How RAI helped you after you signed the dotted line.

A lot of people on here are interested in these answers........because so far the ones who have claimed to be making money with it have disapeared from the site as I'm sure you will.

Once I explain it, show them the before and afters and give them a free treatment.....they are a little more willing to try it. I am now doing buy one get on FREE

You must have just bought yours because these are the things you do in the beginging

Glowtanningctr 02-07-2007 07:19 AM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

TJ, I am not claiming to make money with this machine, I am claiming to make money with laser 100%. Laser is a million more times effective! Lumiere is a tough sell and I would not do it again. That is why I do free treatments and the buy one get one just to get rid of the rest of the products. Some of my clients love it and I think they love it because they can lay down for 20 mins, in complete silence, and chill out! RAI, no comment, they called once, to sell me more products. $ spent on marketing, I do alot of in house marketing and I do video email, I wouldn't waste money on that. I am not disappearing either, any questions you may have for me, just email them away!!! I would rather buy another handpiece for my laser machine and make triple the money or another tanning bed or standup!!

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

I am brand new to all of this and am very confused by what I have read. I'm located in Hawaii and am looking at buying a tanning salon and was considering bringing in some sort of skin rejuvenation system and know that people here will pay $299 or $499 as a package deal like Lumiere. I didn't know that it cost $30,000....yikes. I saw a skin rejuvenation system advertised in looking fit magazine for $22,500 that treats the face, neck and hands simultaneously. Anyone in Hawaii looking at this? Does anyone have a machine that is just doing great for business? Rent is so high that I would need to do more retail and s'thing else to help with revenues.

Glowtanningctr 02-19-2007 06:39 AM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Research everything and try used units! I have one for sale if you are interested. yes, $30,000 is a big chunk of money. Do you have spray tan there? How about waxing, maybe some sort of hydromassage etc. You have tons of options!

TJ 02-19-2007 07:33 AM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Don't try to compete with the medical field in led light rejuvination. The public won't take you seriously. Tanning Salon owners have been mis-led all over the states in the last couple of years.

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Yes they will if you are sincere and know what you are talking about. if you have 16 yr olds running your salon you will not do well. Dont listen to a few upset people on these chat boards do your own research call RAI get referals from people who this has worked for. Good luck in your decision.

TJ 02-19-2007 01:01 PM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

No they won't.

1- I couldn't have been more sincere. I had just signed a lease for $42000.00
2- I knew what I was talking about. After all, I was trained by an RAI rep who anylized my salon and said it was the perfect setting for lumiere.
3- 68% of my Tanning Clients are over 25. Not exactly a buntch of 16 year olds.
4- I have a list of upset people that would not be considered a few.

You have nothing to base your claims on or you would have given them to us on this site a year ago.

paradisetan_gal 02-19-2007 03:07 PM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

The salon has no sunless, and six tanning beds. An esthy rents a room for facials, waxing and body wraps. A massage therapist has also started bringing in clients. I'm not sure of anyone in Hawaii that has Lumiere to try it out.

TJ 02-20-2007 07:02 AM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

You have all the money makers going on in your salon. Your renters are giving you a steady trickle to help pay your rent. Don't get caught up in something that will eat up all of your profit. Unless you have more money than you know what to do with.

Glowtanningctr 02-20-2007 07:02 AM

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Research everything and yes, people will take you seriously if you are informed, professional and knowledgeable. I began doing laser hair removal about a year ago, and honestly, it makes me tons of money, knock on wood, haha. However, you need to answer everyones questions, not let your staff, who is probably young and clueless. Make sure you know your stuff, inside and out and they will come. Laser is even more advanced that lumiere and much more room for error and I had 68 clients last weekend. So, sorry TJ, but if you market correctly, know your product and are professional, anything can work!

By the way. Great profits in HVLP spray tanning too.

You don't have to be sorry Glow. But, I thought you said you had a lumiere for sale.

You see do your homework. Learn your market and your products. Train your staff. Do not have Kids selling advanced skin care regimes to adults and the most important thing is you have to do alot of work. Anything new is going to take time to get people to understand it.
We may not have any Lumiere devices in HI and maybe it is to early for this guy to bring it in, but he is the one to make that decision because he knows his market and what it will support.
I commend this poster because she did her homework and probably worked her A** off to get to where she has 68 appointments coming to her for laser.

Great Job!

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Yes.....I agree whole heartedly. My wife and I were spending all of our free time for over a year promoting our new business add on. Weekends were at the health clubs and all of the trade shows in the area halling the equipment there and doing free demonstrations. We have no a---- left. :-) We did all the right things.

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Yes TJ, I brought in lumiere well before I began doing laser. Now, since lumiere is such a tough sell, people do like it, but it's tough. I make much more money with laser and now that we have handpieces for skin tightening, skin rejuvenation, cellulite and vein removal, I can't keep both. I believe it to be a conflict of interest. And honestly, I think the laser is more effective. And thank you tanology, you need to be informed as I'm sure you know!

Thank you Glow. Yes Education and information are key to being succesful in any business venture.
I see how you said it was such a tough sell. were you offering it under an EFT program?

Did any of you purchase a lumierre machine at the Nashville trade show last year (2006)? Do you have any success stories to share with us?

Hey TJ,

I haven't gotten any e-mail notices for posts here in a while, so I just happened to log in today and saw your post from last month. I used to get notices every time there was a post to this forum. I'll have to double check to see what happened.

But life out here in Colorado is fine. The VIP membership is doing well, could always be better, but we have 39 VIP's right now, so I'm not complaining. Our goal is still 100 VIP members.

We just had a nice article published in the Gazette last Thursday (3/22), our local paper here in Colorado Springs. Page 1 in the Lifestyle section, a two page article with four pics, the lead one of a customer using the Lumiere, a pic of a customer in our Relaxation Room and a third one of the Hydration Station.

That's the first time I can recall that a positive article on indoor tanning has ever been done in that paper. I had to ummm, 'pester' them a bit to give me a chance to show them how our salon has changed and evolved before they finally agreed to come out and take a look around. Here's the links to the article if you're interested:

www.ssatlantis.com/article1.pdf
www.ssatlantis.com/article2.pdf.

Of course a dermatologist immediately came out of the woodwork and criticized the paper for promoting a tanning salon in a 'Letter to the Editor' section. But Joe Levy immediately wrote a ******* rebuttal and fired it off to the editor. We'll see if they print that as well.

But maybe there's a little light at the end of the PR tunnel, as I thought the article was actually fair, balanced and good for our industry.

Take care,

Ric

Hey...........good to hear from you Ric. I guess I just missed you at the show. I was only there for a few hours on Saturday. Tony said you had been in the booth just a short time before I came. Glad to hear things are going good for you and I'll check out the links. Keep us posted on anything interesting.

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Will do, TJ. Yeah, it had been a while since I had been to a national show and I really enjoyed Nashville. Found myself a little embarrassed though that I had fallen behind the technology curve on one or two issues (that have since been corrected!).

Sorry I missed you. We'll be back this year.

Ric

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)

Wow! Lots of interesting news in the latest issue of Looking Fit. Now we'll never get anthing out of these used units. But at least the new ones will be affordabel so all salons will have them and we will be able to start trying to under cut each other. We will be able to offer this incredible service cheaper than tanning sessions before long.
