Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)
Thanks Ric, I got a call from Tony Friday and he said that you had called and ask about getting me back on the salon locator. I see that I am now back on the list and that sure makes me feel better. At least if someone is interested and goes to the web site, they will know that it is availabe in my town. Tony and I had quite a little chat and I still have a few things to discuss with him, but he seemed sincere in his efforts to try work with me and explain some of the new avenues that RAI is persuing to further educate the public about lumiere. I guess I'll wait and see what happens in the next couple of weeks. Thanks again ric, and I guess this means I won't be getting any more commission checks from you.

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)
Nope, no more commission checks, pal. We're even! I do think the RAI guys are trying to make things right, as evidenced by your conversation with Tony. They're learning their marketing lessons from past missteps, just like the rest of us in our businesses.
The Lumiere has a lot of potential for our industry but as we're all finding out now, it's a more sophisticated sale then we all probably thought in the beginning. Now we just have to adapt and adjust our marketing strategies. But I believe the potential return justifies the effort, as I'm now starting to see our customer's perception of our business changing. I had a sports supplement business inside Atlantis for six years (we have about 600 square feet of retail space in the front of the salon). It was interesting to watch people whine about a $15.95 a month unlimited tanning membership fee, yet then walk over to the supplement counter and think nothing about plunking down $75.00 for supplements. Why? Because that's what people are used to paying for top tier sports supplements. We've sold eight VIP's in the first two weeks of October. When this thread started a month or two ago we were at I think, 15 VIP's. As of today we're at 29. But the atmosphere in the salon is different now. Our salespeople's attitudes are WAY different. And our customers attitudes are different as they are starting to ask US, "what's a VIP membership?" They are slowly starting to get comfortable with our Sun Spa concept and that the new services we offer are genuine, and a fair value for the money we're asking. That's all customers really want in my opinion; good value for their money whether it's $15.95 a month or $79.00 a month. And that's why I took a chance and brought the Lumiere in, to try and raise the bar on the perceived value of my salon. Ric |

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)
Hey Ric,
I guess I missed you at the show. I was there Saturday and Tony told me he had seen you on Friday. What did you think of the show? They seemed pretty busy at the lumiere booth. |

Re: Lumiere (Anyone making money?)
I really didn't have much time with Tony. The booth was really busy and I think only two other people beside Ray and Tony manning it. I made my presence known and told him I would be talking to him this week by phone. What do you think he could possibly have to say about the PR retainer? All I know is, they are still getting people's attention. I guess I could have made a scene about a few things, but I chose not to.
