I have the clogged pore problem and was told to use selenium and was wondering if taking the selenium supplements would work to clear it up also??

Re: Could this help me

Studies have shown selenium if taken with vitamin A and Vitamin E, can reduce the severity of persistent acne and help reduce scarring. However, selenium toxicity is a problem, and selenium should be used under the supervision of a doctor only.

Selenium has both beneficial and harmful effects. Low doses of selenium are needed to maintain good health. However, exposure to high levels can cause adverse health effects. Short-term oral exposure to high concentrations of selenium may cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Chronic oral exposure to high concentrations of selenium compounds can produce a disease called selenosis. The major signs of selenosis are hair loss, nail brittleness, and neurological abnormalities (such as numbness and other odd sensations in the extremities).

Re: Could this help me

Your original question was to do with clogged pores. Tinea Versicolor is a yeast on the skin that is derived from the scalp. Check with your pharmacist he/she might recommend washing with a shampoo with selenium in it.
