Acne Myths:
Myth: Acne Is cased by poor personal hygiene- dirt and oil that hasn't been washed away. Fact: Acne is not caused by sueface factors; in fact....scrubbing to vigorusly can inflame acne. Myth: The sun dries out greasy skin Fact: Sun exposure can increase oil production and aggravate acne. Myth: To much junk food and fatty, fried foods like french fries case acne. Fact: There is no evidence that pizza, chocolate, fries, or other greasy foods cause acne. Some belive sugar cause acne, which is why chocolate has been thought to cause acne. Foods high in iodine and bromide such as shell fish, seaweed and multivitamins may cause flare ups. Avoid these foods if you consistently break out after eating them. How Acne Forms: Acne forms when excess prodction of sebum, (a wexy oil produced by the sebacesous glands) traps skin cells in a hair follicle ( usually on the face, neck, chest, etc...). One of the jobs of the sebum is to carry cells shed by glands to the surface of the skin. When excess sebum is produced, it blocks the opening of the glands, called the ducts, trapping both the sebum and the dead skin cells. That plugged- up follicle creates an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. When oil, beactria and dead skin cells all accumulate within a hair follicle, they form what's known as a "plug". A whitehead is fromed when the plug rest under the skin. A blackhead results when the top of the plug breaks though the skin's surface and exposed to air. Blackheads look the way they do because of the pigment in the skin and the process of oxidation; not beacues of dirt! Common Cause of Acne: *Hormonal chages are the #1 culprit: Menstruation, pregancy, and starting or stoping birth control pills. menopause. * Stress(prompts body to release hormones that trigger oil production) * Family history *Oil-based products and certain preciption drugs * environment: high humidity and pollution can worsen acne Take Control Of your Acne: * Acne is not a disease of dirt, so don't overscrub the skin!! That can make it worse!! * Never go to bed with makeup on!!!! * Shampoo regularly. Oily hair adds to skin surface oil. * Use oil- free moisturizer and foundations Hope that this can help some of you _________________ you don't know what works till you try it yourself.[ This Message was edited by: Carolina_Girl on 2005-09-06 21:10 ] |

For me I don't care for it b/c of the bleach that is in it. I use this other line that i think is better then proactive. I know from other people that say that All Clear is just better for them then Proactive. If your skin needs a good bleaching then go for it. But, it is your own personal thoughts on it. First hand i have seen better results with All Clear then Proactive Solution. And when you are laying in the tanning bed and are using proactive solution be very careful. You are very sentient to light.

That was a sanitary response. Well, I suppose I'll try. ~ahem~ Here goes: "It's nice to have you back! I'm sorry you've been working so hard lately! But look at the bright side; more money, more experience, less talking to me!" Not all bad. Just the last part. Just pop in for a thread or two once in a while! Is that too much to ask?! You darn kids. Always this or that, never meet in the middle. What am I going to do with you, young lady? Well? Answer me! Don't you talk back! ROFLMAO!! Just kidding. Have fun. Life's too short to worry about acne. As a matter of fact, that's usually temporary too. No offense to people with acne problems. I'm just saying ...

Haha well, it's not too terribly bad, but it's there. I don't think you can see it in my pictures in my gallery, but it sucks. I hope it's temporary. It seems to be a new development. Started getting bad skin around 20.
I'll try to post more! |
