My ex used to have this. It wasn't Selsun Blue which fixed it but the Selsun in the square orange coloured bottle (I think it's in a square bottle).

My doctor perscribed Nizoral Cream (or medical name Ketoconazole) in 2%. Basically, the remedy is delivered through a moisturizing system which is easier on the skin. I only needed it for one week and it has not come back.

You'll always have Tinea Veriscolor even if the treatment makes the spots go away. It may not come back for a while, but it's never "cured".

Most antifungals work well. YOu can purchase Over the counter medications (OTC's) at any pharmacy (CVS,Walgreens). Kenalog, Nizoral and others like that come in a 1% solution or cream. They are more expensive that just purchasing Selsun Blue, Heah & Shoulders or any local brand dandruff shampoo. The main ingredient you are looking for is Coal Tar. This is the most effective agent in the treatment of Tinea.
