I use Angel by DS. It's light in texture and not too strong of a smell and has skin firming agents. I also use one that my tanning salon carries called Cirrus that is aloe based with firming and unscented. Both keep me moisturized all day and run about $12.

There are tons of good moisturizers out there for less money than you're talking about. Bath and Body Works has a tan extender for about $15 that's really good (and not heavy).

Bath and Body works Moisturizers have Mineral oil in them, No good for tanners. The mineral oil is not absorbed into the skin. It sits on the surface of the skin which reflects UV light. It kinda defeats the purpose of tanning. DS Angel or SB Endless are great Moisturizers for tanners. No mineral oil and the help promote healthy skin and allow UV light to be absorbed into the skin.

I personally like Aqua Tini, great moisturizer that makes my skin so soft, and what is also nice is it helps to extend the life of your tan! What's not to love

Not exactly true...the mineral oil found in lotions and cosmetics is highly refined (not the crude forms from petroleum that can be damaging to skin). While part of it does sit on the surface of the skin, it does not block UV. Actually, it amplfies UV much in the same way that water does. However, since mineral oil can damage acrylic, it is never approved for indoor tanning.

As far as moisturizers go, Mineral Oil acts to seal moisture into the skin and is widely known as the number one substance for helping skin keep it's moisture. Please research the benefits of mineral oil before making a snap judgement. It works miracles for some people...depending on your skin type.

As far as tanning goes, after-tan lotions with mineral oil do not pose a threat to acrylics unless used directly before a tanning session. Using a moisturizer with mineral oil on days that you don't tan (you shouldn't tan every day anyway) will not have detremental effects on tanning, or the tanning equipment.

No way....MINERAL OIL IS BAD FOR YOUR SKIN. I'm sorry Athens Rose but it really is. Mineral Oil is foreign to the human body and has many harmful effects. It is difficult to absorb and clogs the pores, which slows the skin's ability to eliminate toxins. Some people say mineral oil is okay to use because it forms a film/barrier on the skin that seals in moisture, but that is exactly why it is bad! Your skin needs to breathe....it is a living organ after all, and the largest at that.

Mineral oil is a common ingredient in many household products. It is found in lotions, soaps, cosmetics and motor oil. Mineral oil is a clear liquid oil with no scent and will not spoil. It is produced as a byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil. Mineral oil is the leftover liquid, and because it is abundant, it is very inexpensive. In fact, it is more expensive to dispose of mineral oil than to purchase it.
Mineral oil is the main ingredient in many baby care items as well. Baby Oil, Vaseline® (petroleum jelly), baby wash liquid soap and baby lotions all contain mineral oil as a key ingredient. As mentioned above, manufacturers can buy it very inexpensively and it will not spoil.
The problem is that mineral oil is foreign to the human body and has many harmful effects, especially on infants. Mineral oil acts as a thin plastic layer on the skin. It is difficult to absorb and clogs the pores, which slows the skin's ability to eliminate toxins. Remember, the skin is the body's largest organ and plays an important role in maintaining overall health!
Once the oil is absorbed, it is broken down by the liver. But because it is an unnatural product, the liver must work extra hard to remove it from the body. And once the oil is present in the intestinal tract, it will absorb all of the fat-soluble vitamins found there. It is essentially stealing important vitamins from the body, which the body will not be able to replace. This can eventually lead to nutritional deficiencies. Studies have also shown forms of pneumonia caused by mineral oil decreasing lung function, known as lipoid pneumonia. Because of these dangers, the medical community has condemned the use of mineral oil taken orally or as in ingredient in medications.
