Hey all. I just started tanning about 2 weeks ago, and I've gone 6 times (all of them have been in the Ruva bed). 4 of the times were just fine and I have tanned nicely. However, there have been 2 times (at the same tanning salon and in the same bed) where I have had problems with tanning. The first time this happened, I was going to tan for 10 minutes but got out after about 8 because I felt very hot on my back area. I looked in the mirror and I was extremely red wherever my body was touching the bed - from my shoulder area down to my thigh area. I figured they must have not wiped the sanitizer off enough and it had somehow irritated my skin. The next day, the redness was mostly gone. Just today I went tanning again, and after about 1-2 minutes of being in the bed, I felt an extremely odd sensation on the front part of my legs and my stomach/chest area - it felt as though I was being poked with pins all over. I got out (and the sensation continued) - I looked in the mirror and I was already red where my skin was touching the bed. This was only after 1-2 minutes of lying in the bed - and the redness is gone already, so I'm thinking it must have something to do with the sanitizer. (That doesn't explain the prickly feeling I got all over my legs, stomach, and chest, though.)

Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know what could be going on? I don't know if I should stop tanning for a while - I haven't had problems most of the time, but I don't know if it will just get worse. If you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks! (And thanks for reading all of this if you got through it all!)

Sounds like someone before you had a tingle lotion on and when they cleaned the bed, they did not get it all off. Just let them know about the problem and ask them to re-clean the bed before you use it, and if it is the bed cleaner that is causing the problem, just ask if you can wipe the bed down with just plain water.

Left over tingle. I'm positive

Yep, it's the tingle. I can only imagine how you would feel if you went in after me!! I use the hottest stuff I can get my hands on.

Wow, are you serious? I don't understand how anyone could want to put that stuff on... it hurt so much! So should I just request that they wipe it down with water really well, or should I do that myself.. (I should probably do that myself, figuring they aren't washing it very well right now...)

engfant 04-13-2005 04:48 PM

just do it yourself

If it is leftover tingle lotion, I'd switch salons. They do not know how to clean their units.
