Rep Power: 23 | Hi,everyone!Well I have a situation that maybe a couple of you can help me with. One of my customer's came in a few weeks back & asked me how to deal w/her sunspots.I suggested since prom was right around the corner that the quickest solution would be to stop tanning, see her docter & have him/her prescribe the medication for it,meanwhile if she wants to get a airbrush tanning session done while she is on the medication. So off to the docter's she went.Well she come's back in a week later, following her docter's appointment & says that the docter did not want to put her on the medication for some reason and that she can just use Selsum Blue on her spots(which is all over her arm's & back)and that she CAN KEEP on tanning, but NOT in a BED,she's to go only in the stand up or get airbrush tanning done.I almost fell over when she said the docter told her to keep on tanning. Now am I wrong, but should she not stop tanning while she is treating her sun spots, because the last 5 years I have been telling a girl here or there to stop while treating?I know that uv has nothing to do w/the fungus, except make it more noticable and that even on the back of Wipe Out it does say to stop while treating.I was also shocked that the docter suggested Selsun Blue, its so harsh on the skin, that now the girl said her skin is extremely dry in these area's.Anyway I now feel that since my advice now clash's w/a docter's I think she is more confused & does not know who to believe(most likely in me). Also I feel that since the docter suggested to tan in a stand up,not a bed that she is leading the girl to believe that she got it from tanning in a bed and that she wouldn't get it from a stand up!I tried to explain to her once again, but I'm still shocked w/the docter's suggestion...So all this time was I wrong or is the docter, about tanning while treating? Also I use to carry Wipe Out,but haven't lately because there has never been a real big need for it.Is there anything new or better then Wipe Out that i should sell her?Any comments are appreciated, because I would actually like to print up & give her other salon owner's comments on this matter...Thanks again! |

Rep Power: 29 | Honestly, it's different for all people, kinda like acne breakouts. We ALL have acne bacteria on our skin. Just depends on how easy you break out. TANNING DOES NOT CAUSE "sun spots". They REALLY aren't sun spots at all. Just easy to call them that then to say YEAH YOU ARE HAVING A MAJOR FUNGI ATTACK!!!! Usually they associate that with I CAUGHT IT FROM YOUR TANNING BED which is NEVER the case. So let's just give this one to your DOCTOR for being a PRO and not telling her to GET OUT OF THE TANNING BED!!!!!!!!!!! |

Rep Power: 107 | Continuing with her tanning will not make the outbreak worse, but may make it more pronounced/noticeable as she continues to darken. Selsun Blue or another "dandruff" shampoo has been a staple in treating the condition for years. The scalp is generally considered the source of the problem, so the shampoo should be used up there too. |
