Rep Power: 0 | I have fairly light skin and I use Australiant Gold and Brown Envy. They are both good lotions and they are fairly cheap...15-20.00 at my salon. Some of them have bronzers and/or accelerators and basically the bronzer will give you color but will wash off in the shower after about 48-72 hours. Accelerators are always a good thing I think I started at 10 and then after about 2 or 3 times I went up a few minutes and I am now at 20. A good SPF for your face is 10 or 15, for your body most likely a 10 or so and I always put on lip balm with an SPF of 25 or higher otherwise your lips can get burnt and then they peel...it isnt pleasant...lol. Go every other day for a week and after that you can go everyday but should probably skip a day or two a week. |

Rep Power: 107 | 1.) What kind of lotion should I use if I am skin type 3 and about how much will it cost? That depends on what your salon carries. They should have a decent selection of "base builders". Brown Envy being one of them. 2.) What time do you think I should start at? That will depend on the equipment your salon has. Our Type three's start off between 8 and 10 minutes. 3.) What is a good spf to use? I hope you are referring to outdoor use. SPF15 should be fine if it is applied according to directions. SPF30 if you burn easlily. Anything higher than that is a marketing ploy. 4.) Do you get sunburned the first time? NO! Never burn indoors or out! 5.) How often should I go..everyday? We recommend you go for 3 days in a row, then take a day off, 3 more, then take two days off, or every second day until you develop a base tan. This of course depends on whether or not you are having any itchiness or redness. Hopefully you are visiting a trained salon, that should be able and willing to answer these same questions for you. |

Rep Power: 0 | I would suggest stickin with that 8 mins fo rthe first 3-4 sessions. You wont burn that way. You cannot get anxious and go in there the second time like "OK i want 15 mins this time" just take it slow. Then after the first 3 sessions... SKIP a day or even TWO. moisturize those two days really well to keep your skin in good condition. Then when you return for the next 2-3 session try 10 mins. I always tell my clients NEVER UP your mins more than 2 at a time unless you have a good base. Drama Queen isnt a bad base lotion. We sell it too. Last not least, if you see any sign of pink at ALL take a few days off tillit subsides, you cannot tan over pink skin, it is a sign of burn/damage and your skin needs time to heal. It wont hold color if its pink. |

Rep Power: 0 | ahh! ya so I did 8 minutes first day, then 2nd day the lady said that I should try 10 so I said ok..and after that I was alittle pink but only on areas that I havent tanned before (because I went in nude) and so the next day the lady told me I should try 12 minutes I wasnt sure at first but I did it and now I am pink and scratchy..not over my whole body though, only of what I havent tanned before. So how long do you think I should wait to go again? Also you know if you were up to 20 minutes and you kept going at 20 mins each time would you get darker or stay the same? |

Rep Power: 0 | Sounds like you may need to lay off a day or two. But the owner of the salon your going to should know the beds better then anyone on this site. So if you do what she says you should be ok. They should be abble to guide you to the next level of lotions and upgrade bed. |

Rep Power: 0 | I would definately lay of for a couple days. I just dont see telling someone to move up 2 mins EACH time. Not until they have a base. I would wait a few ...MOISTURIZE MOISTURIZE MOISTURIZE and then when you do go, just do the 10 a couple times. I dunno, thats what works for me and my clients. Its what I PERSONALLY suggest, but use your judgment, if you arent POSITIVE you are ready to go in longer, then you probably shoulnd't. |
